Consumers these days struggle between the need to always remain connected and the driving hazards that using a hand-held device poses. For many, a great alternative is Android Auto, which allows you to perform a number of functions hands-free. Is this feature available on the 2020 Toyota Corolla?

No, the 2020 Corolla does not have Android Auto, but Toyota added it as standard for the 2021 model year.

What is Android Auto?

Android Auto is a feature that allows you to use Google Assistant to plan routes, play music, access apps, or receive the weather forecast. Just connect your Android phone to your 2021 Corolla’s touchscreen and you can easily make calls or send a voice text just by giving oral commands.

In addition to performing navigation, the Android Auto feature will provide you with real-time alerts using Waze and Google Maps. You may tell your assistant to help you find gas stations, restaurants, or other spots along your way as well.

Standard audio and 8-inch touchscreen

Toyota has included a 7 or 8-inch touchscreen that will allow you to easily operate its Android Auto feature. The 8-inch touchscreen comes standard on the XLE and higher trim models and is an available option on the Corolla’s base trim models.

The Corolla also comes with an available 800-watt JBL audio system that will make listening to music or audio books a breeze.

Premium interior design

The 2021 Toyota Corolla has a premium interior design that the automaker claims will provide you with “all the goods” and “all within reach”. Its roomy design gives you the ultimate in comfort, while also giving you maximum visibility while out on the road.

Driving experience

Android Auto is not the only thing that adds to the driving experience. Some models are equipped with a 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine that is capable of up to 169 hp. and 151 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,400 rpm.

The Corolla’s six-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) provides for easier, more efficient down and upshifting. The Dynamic Shift Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), on the other hand, will give you a very smooth ride along with high performance.

Exterior design

The redesigned Toyota Corolla now has a more aggressive look that makes it easily identifiable. At the same time, Toyota offers a few distinct features on some of its trim models.

For example, you’ll find color-keyed outside door handles, black heated outside mirrors with turn signal indicators, and a sport mesh black front grille with a black bumper and surround.

You’ll notice a stunning array of color choices, including black sand pearl, Barcelona red metallic, blue crush metallic, and blue crush. All of them complement the 18-inch machined alloy wheels with dark gray accents rather nicely. A few models such as the SE even come with an available tilt/slide power moonroof that features a sliding sun shade.

Hybrid model available

2020 marked the first model year that Toyota has made a hybrid Corolla available. This version is outfitted with a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder engine with Dual Variable Valve Timing. A Corolla hybrid will provide you with up to 52 mpg in the city and as much as 53 mpg on the highway, for a combined rating of 52 mpg.

By adding Android Auto to the 2021 Corolla, Toyota has taken what was already a great automobile and made it even better. Now you can enjoy great fuel economy, a dynamic driving experience, and the latest technology all at your fingertips. If you are looking for a host of features at a very affordable price, you may wish to check out the 2021 Toyota Corolla.
