Car technology has come a long way, especially the way we listen to music. Just a few short years ago, we were listening to 8-tracks. Then came cassette tapes, and CD players. Now, most new vehicles have either Android Auto or Apple Car Play, which allows you to use your phone to listen to all your favorite music.

As popular as it is, however, there are some automakers who don’t take advantage of this tech. Take BMW for example. It is well known for its high luxury vehicles, but for reasons that seem bizarre, the German automaker only recently added Android Auto.

While not in the same league as BMW, Ford is usually better at adding in the latest tech, even if you have to pay more money to get it. From electric cars to frames made of aluminum, Ford tries to stay relevant by keeping up with the latest tech trends. So does the Fusion have Android Auto? Here’s what we found out.

Why drivers love Android Auto

For drivers who have an Android phone, being able to use it in the car is a must. It has a lot of great features that make life easier and driving safer. By using simple voice commands, you can check the weather, call your doctor, get directions to the new Japanese restaurant that everyone is raving about, and listen to your favorite playlist. The best part is that Android Auto is incredibly easy to use.

According to Android, all you need to do is download the Android Auto app, plug in your phone using a USB cable, and you’re all set. Many of the apps you already have on your phone are compatible with Android Auto, so you don’t even have to download new ones. If you love listening to audiobooks, you can listen to Google Play Books, Audible, or The New York Times.

For people who like to stay connected with friends and family, you have access to Messenger, WhatsApp, and Skype. Music lovers have a whole list of radio stations to choose from, as well as Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and Amazon Music.

Sports lovers can choose from Tune In NBA Radio, or MLB. And for those who are always on the go, there is Waze, Google Maps, and Scanner Radio, which is essentially a police scanner.

Does the Ford Fusion have Android Auto?

If the Ford Fusion is on your list of must-have vehicles, you’ll be pleased to know that Android Auto is included. According to U.S. News, the Fusion also offers a Wi-Fi hot spot, an 8-inch touch screen, satellite radio, navigation, and Apple CarPlay.

The Ford Sync system and MyKey also come standard, so no matter which trim level you decide to go with, you’ll have access to some really cool tech.

This might be the Ford Fusion’s last rodeo

If you’re a fan of the Ford Fusion, then this might be your last chance to get one. According to Edmunds, Ford has made the decision to stop production on all sedan models. This might come as a shock to some, but to Ford, it simply makes good business sense. Their sedan models aren’t bringing in as much cash flow as SUV and trucks, so Ford had to make a hard decision.

It’s possible that Ford might breathe new life into the Fusion by converting it into a station wagon. This would be an excellent way to keep fans of the Fusion while bringing in some new consumers who just aren’t interested in driving a sedan. Ford hasn’t made the official announcement, but it’ll be interesting to see if they do.
