These days, having a vehicle with outdated technology is akin to owning one without power steering. That’s because it is awkward and makes the driving experience feel clunky. Accordingly, if you are shopping for a new pickup such as the Ford F-150, one of the first things you may want to know is what features it offers. If you are asking whether the Ford F-150 has Apple Car Play or other technology, here’s what you need to know.

Apple Car Play

Being able to enjoy great music, navigate your vehicle, and stay connected while on the go is important. Available on the 2020 F-150, Apple Car Play will allow you to do all of these things and more. Simply plug your iPhone into the available USB port, and the vehicle’s Sync 3 screen will suddenly mimic that of your phone. From there, you can access apps, perform navigation, and receive messages.

Apple Car Play is designed with safety in mind. Consequently, some applications such as games are automatically restricted. When receiving messages through WhatsApp or similar applications, they will be read out loud to you instead. That way, you do not have to take your hands off the steering wheel or your eyes off of the road.

The Sync 3 feature is available on all F-150 trim models, including the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Raptor. This means you can enjoy Apple Car Play even if you choose only the base model.

Sync 3 features

The Ford F-150’s Sync 3 system will allow you to do more than just access Apple Car Play. With Sync 3, you can receive traffic and weather updates in near real-time using the popular Waze app. Access Waze through the Sync 3’s touch screen, or take advantage of voice commands to operate hands-free.

Use the Ford+Alexa app to take advantage of numerous features offered by Amazon Alexa. A few of those include shopping through Amazon Prime, voice navigation, and control of your smart home devices.

Ford Pass Connect feature

With Ford Pass Connect, you will never have to worry about staying connected. With this in-vehicle hotspot, you can connect up to ten devices, and may even access Wi-Fi while up to 50 feet outside of your truck. Use the FordPass app to keep track of data usage, or receive important data about your pickup such as scheduled service. FordPass will also help you lock or unlock your vehicle remotely in the event you are locked out or misplace your keys.

Driver assistance technologies

Ford’s included Co-Pilot360 technology offers a variety of features that will help you navigate nearly any situation with ease. For example, the Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature takes all the guesswork out of backing up while hauling a trailer. Just turn a knob and the trailer will move in the direction in which you indicate.

Remain aware of what’s in your blind spot by using BLIS with trailer coverage. This feature makes changing lanes in heavy traffic a breeze, even if you are hauling a boat, trailer, or another vehicle. Hill Descent Control will help you maintain a steady speed on downgrades by automatically applying the brake as needed.

Ford and Apple Car Play

The 2020 Ford F-150 offers a plethora of advanced technological features that will greatly enhance the driving experience. Apple Car Play is only one of the many you will find on this light-duty pickup, which is designed with your comfort and style in mind. Thanks to its numerous features, the latest F-150 will appeal to an even wider audience than in years past.
