Toyota is set to release the 2023 GR Corolla, taking the auto giant’s beloved compact car to the next level. But unlike its sedan sibling, the GR Corolla is a sporty hatchback, and some are wondering how it will hold up to its namesake. For instance, will the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla have Android Auto and other infotainment features, or will the hot hatch omit some bells and whistles in favor of performance?

Not everyone is tech-savvy, and when the latest and greatest gadget comes out, you might not know or care what it is. But Android Auto has become so common in many vehicles that you’ve probably heard of it even if you don’t know what it is.

Android Auto gives you access to your phone’s apps through a compatible vehicle’s infotainment system. And you don’t need your hands to use it.

According to Android, you can call friends and family, text using speech, and access navigation apps without looking at your phone. The voice-activated Google Assistant works like Amazon Alexa; instead, you say, “Hey, Google.” It can also help you select your favorite music.

So, does the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla have Android Auto?

Now that you know how this Google-developed mobile app works, the next question is, does the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla have Android Auto? According to Toyota, yes.

Also available will be Apple CarPlay integration for iPhone users. Both will be accessible using the all-new 8.0-inch touchscreen Toyota Audio Multimedia system.

For drivers who grow tired of constant updates, the new Toyota Audio Multimedia system updates over the air, avoiding the need to take the car to the dealership.

If you don’t have an Android smartphone or iPhone, you can use voice controls in the GR Corolla, thanks to its Intelligent System. Simply saying, “Hey, Toyota,” gives you access to some of the same features, such as navigation and cabin temperature control.

If you choose to sign up for the Wi-Fi Connect Subscription offered with the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla, you can connect up to five devices. This option is ideal if you plan to use the vehicle as a mobile office.

More about the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla

The automaker hasn’t revealed pricing for the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla yet, but it will likely range from about $35,000 to $40,000. According to Toyota, this all-wheel-drive hatchback will pack a turbocharged three-cylinder engine harnessing 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque.

“Engineered for snappy acceleration out of the corners, output hits peak torque at 3000–5500 rpm, with max horsepower coming at 6500 rpm. Its thrill-inducing power is piped through a unique triple exhaust that’s designed to reduce backpressure for maximum power delivery,” Toyota says.

The interior is mostly black, but red stitching adds a subtle pop of color. A 12.3-inch screen displays gear position, the tachometer, driving mode, and other important information.

Features like an engine start/stop button, aluminum sport pedals, two USB charging ports, a 12V auxiliary power outlet, lighted foot wells, front console tray, and rear console box come standard on all trim levels.

In addition, the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla provides plentiful advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). They include dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, road sign assist, rear seat reminder, and more.

And although Toyota has yet to announce the release date for the new GR Corolla, an alleged dealership memo leaked that the car will hit showroom floors in October.
