The 2023 Nissan Z has enthusiasts excited for a car that blurs the line between eras. The company’s reliable line of sports cars pays homage to the models of yore but delivers modern design. But many high-performance cars skimp on the most up-to-date tech features. Has the 2023 Nissan Z sacrificed Apple CarPlay in the name of performance?

How Apple CarPlay works

Apple CarPlay lets your car’s infotainment system act as an extension of your phone. Vehicles equipped with CarPlay integration help keep your eyes on the road and, thus, improve safety.

Though most newer cars let the driver make and receive calls and control their phones’ music playlists through Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay allows users to access numerous other features on their phone through an intuitive interface.

Depending upon the vehicle model, you connect Apple CarPlay through a USB cable or wirelessly. Once the system is connected, CarPlay displays your iPhone’s apps on the car’s infotainment display, navigable through the car’s touchscreen, knob, or joystick.

In addition to providing access to your favorite apps — like Apple Music, Messages, Apple Podcasts, and Audible — CarPlay lets you use your preferred GPS app, such as Google Maps or Waze, through the vehicle’s infotainment system.

Also, Siri works with CarPlay, so you can use your voice to control it.

The 2023 Nissan Z has everything a sporting driver wants while paying tribute to its Datsun roots. The Z’s infotainment system looks good, sounds great, and controls easily thanks to built-in options to make the car safer and more accessible. Embracing the classics is great for nostalgia’s sake, but Nissan shows how to blend it with modern features gracefully.

With a 400-hp 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission with aluminum shifters, driving quality will seldom be an issue. However, performance is only part of the equation. Nissan confirms its 2023 models come with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. (Android Auto works much the same as CarPlay but for Android device users.)

The 2023 Nissan Z’s other tech features

The 2023 Nissan Z boasts an optional 9.0-inch navigation screen with a 12.3-inch digital gauge. The large screen is easy to see, preventing squinting and allowing your eyes to focus on the road ahead. As a bonus, audiophiles can upgrade to a six-speaker Bose sound system. Also, expect SiriusXM Satellite Radio and Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity.

The Nissan Z offers the full driving experience. From its powerful engine to classically inspired design, gearheads will approve of the car’s exceptional performance. And in an increasingly connected world, its tech features add more enjoyment to an impressive ride.
