Are you interested in buying a brand new small SUV? One of the most popular models available is the 2022 Nissan Rogue. It’s been a staple in the small SUV segment for quite some time, and that isn’t changing. However, the Rogue is also surprisingly cheap compared to some rivals. Does that mean it’s missing valuable technology like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? Does the 2022 Nissan Rogue have Apple CarPlay? What about wireless connectivity for it?

Getting Apple CarPlay in a 2022 Nissan Rogue is easy. All buyers need to do is choose the base model Rogue S, and the iPhone software along with Android Auto is included. As a result, it’s also featured with every trim level of Nissan’s small SUV. According to Edmunds, the Rogue S starts at $28,445 MSRP. It’s surprisingly well-equipped for a vehicle at this price point. However, this version of the Nissan Rogue only comes with wired Apple CarPlay, so you’ll have to plug in to receive the functionality.

In addition, the Rogue S is filled with other valuable amenities. For example, LED headlights, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, an eight-inch touchscreen, four speakers, a satellite radio, and two USB ports. Although it isn’t a Lexus or BMW, Nissan’s small SUV provides a surprising amount of value for under $30K. Does wired Apple CarPlay get the job done? Or do you want wireless capability?

Wireless Apple CarPlay is more expensive

Not everyone is OK with plugging in their phone every time they enter the vehicle. Furthermore, buyers needing wireless Apple CarPlay capability must spend a little more. You’ll need at least the SL trim to connect via Bluetooth to the 2022 Nissan Rogue for Apple CarPlay. That’s two steps above the base model S, starting at $34,795 MSRP.

However, there’s a catch. The standard Rogue SL doesn’t come with the feature but instead unlocks access to the SL Premium package, which is where you’ll find wireless Apple CarPlay. On top of SL features like driver’s seat memory, tri-zone automatic climate control, a hands-free tailgate, and leather upholstery, the SL Premium package add even more.

For example, a navigation system, an upgraded nine-inch touchscreen, a 10-speaker Bose premium sound system, voice controls, front and rear parking sensors, and a nav-linked adaptive cruise control system. Finally, and most importantly, the package adds wireless Apple CarPlay. According to Nissan, the package costs $1,320, boosting the total cost to $36,115.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue has no wireless Android Auto

Although Nissan provides wireless Apple CarPlay with the SL Premium package, wireless Android Auto is unavailable for the 2022 Rogue. There are many tech and convenience features throughout the lineup, but Bluetooth Android Auto is not one of them. Instead, owners will have to deal with plugging their Android device in each time they need access to the AA software. A slight inconvenience, but not detrimental if you are just looking for the capability.

In conclusion, the 2022 Nissan Rogue has Apple CarPlay. Buying the Rogue S base model is enough to access the popular feature, but your phone will have to stay plugged in to use it. Alternatively, buyers can upgrade to the SL trim and the optional SL Premium package to get wireless Apple CarPlay via Bluetooth.
