The Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack packs the most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 engine in the muscle car segment for 2023. However, the big, brash street bully can’t outrun some lighter sports car options. Better yet, the BMW Z4 M40i, Toyota GR Supra 3.0, and BMW M240i xDrive outrun the Mopar muscle coupe using the same inline-six-cylinder mill

These three sports cars will outsprint a Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack

The Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack is seriously fast in a straight line, but these three siblings will outrun the Mopar car to 60 mph.

Although the BMW and Toyota badge might be a seldomly associated pair, the M240i xDrive, Z4 M40i, and GR Supra 3.0, all have a critical component in common. The three models pack the turbocharged B58 3.0L inline-six-cylinder heart. The B58 motor produces 382 horsepower in all three platforms. However, the BMW models have one extra lb-ft of torque, for a total of 369 per Car and Driver

Is the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack a sports car?

The Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack is less of a sports car and more of a tire-vaporizing muscle car with an appetite for one thing: straight-line speed.

Still, even with an abundance of responsive throttle and horsepower, the Scat Pack’s 4,274 lb curb weight means the stable of ponies has to overcome some serious heft. With 485 horsepower courtesy of a naturally aspirated 6.4L Apache V8, the Mopar coupe hit 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds on its way to a 12.5-second quarter mile in testing.

How fast is the BMW Z4 M40i?

The range-topping 2023 BMW Z4 M40i will hit 60 mph in around 3.8 seconds. Despite a disparity of over 100 horsepower, the Z4 is lighter than the Scat Pack by about 739 lbs, making for a much more athletic sports car application.

Is the Supra 3.0 fast?

Like the BMW Z4 M40i, the 2023 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 is rear-wheel drive (RWD) and B58-powered. However, the razor-sharp Supra is lighter than the soft-top Bimmer, and hits 60 in just 3.7 seconds with its quick-shifting eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Of course, driver’s car fans can opt for the 3.0 with a six-speed manual transmission, too. Better yet, the three-pedal Toyota sports car will still outsprint a Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack. In testing, the manual GR Supra 3.0 hit 60 in just 3.9 seconds on its way to a 12.4-second quarter mile.

How much horsepower does a BMW M240i xDrive have?

The 2023 BMW M240i xDrive produces 382 horsepower, just like the Z4 M40i and Toyota GR Supra 3.0. However, unlike its siblings, the M240i xDrive offers launch-happy all-wheel drive (AWD)

Still, with a 3.6-second sprint to 60 mph and a 12.1-second quarter mile, the M240i xDrive is quicker than a Scat Pack and faster than the Z4 and GR Supra 3.0.
