Let’s get started with pricing. You can get started in a 2022 Jeep Cherokee for about $29,995. The price for the 2023 model may increase to cover the cost of inflation. The 2022 Jeep Compass begins at around $26,785.

So, the Compass is attractive with the ability to save about $3,000. It received an interior refresh for 2022 but has been primarily the same since 2016. The Jeep Cherokee is also showing its age.

It was last redesigned in 2014, so both vehicles are showing their age, but the Compass could have a more upscale-feeling interior. The Compass and Cherokee are expected to primarily carryover models for 2023.

Does the Compass or Cherokee have a better performance?

The 2023 Jeep Compass has a standard 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 177 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Compass can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.0 seconds, which is acceptable for the class.

With the 2023 Jeep Cherokee, you get a 3.2-liter V6 engine with 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine for 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both engines pair with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The Cherokee can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. According to Car and Driver, the Jeep Cherokee can tow up to 4,500 lbs, and the Jeep Compass can tow up to 2,000 lbs.

Both the Compass and the Cherokee are available with off-roading upgrades such as all-terrain tires, tow hooks, skid plates, and a raised suspension.

However, the Cherokee also is available with a unique off-roading suspension, 19-inch wheels, wheel-arch extensions, a locking rear differential, upgraded engine cooling, and a rear tow hook.

Does the Cherokee or Compass have better features?

The 2023 Jeep Cherokee provides 25.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats with up to 54.7 cubes total.

With the 2023 Jeep Compass, you get 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats with up to 59.8 cubes total.

Both SUVs feature a high-quality interior with soft-touch covered surfaces and leather upholstery. The Compass may provide a little more passenger space than the Cherokee. Both Jeep models have a standard 8.4-inch infotainment system.

But with the Compass, you can upgrade to a 10.1-inch unit. Plus, it had Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Standard safety features for the Cherokee include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and rear-cross traffic alert. These are available with the Compass.

Go with the Cherokee if you want more off-roading and towing power. But the Compass can help you save a little with a more modern interior and advanced tech.
