Driving on the highway is unpredictable enough, but nothing ruins a commute faster than another driver making a blind, erratic lane change. Even worse is when they cause a massive wreck and immediately try to point the finger at you. Fortunately, we live in the golden age of dashcams where the camera never lies.
A recent dashcam video uploaded to Reddit proves exactly why you should never drive without a camera recording. The footage captures a scary crash where a car attempting to move into the overtaking lane hits another car and spins them out.
[OC] Spun out on the highway. Guy blamed me for hitting me. No one was hurt.

The PIT Maneuver
According to the timestamp on the Garmin dashcam, the incident occurred in early April 2026 on a multi-lane highway. The video begins peacefully enough. The vehicle recording the footage is cruising steadily in the fast lane, while a silver sedan is driving slower in ta slower lane.
Suddenly, the situation goes completely sideways. Without checking their passenger-side mirror or blind spot, the driver of the sedan moves over into the fast lane, hitting the rear right of the dashcammed vehicle.
There’s little time to do anything before the car spins out.
Physics takes over immediately, but in a stroke of absolute luck and skill, the driver manages to navigate the car seamlessly off the live road.
Accidents happen, but the most infuriating part of this comes in the caption of the video: “Spun out on the highway. Guy blamed me for hitting me. No one was hurt.”
Dashcams are Worth Their Weight in Gold
If you have been on the fence about hardwiring a dashcam into your daily driver, consider this video a hint of what you should be doing. It doesn’t matter how safely and defensively you drive; you cannot control the vehicles around you.
Spending a little bit of money on a reliable dashcam today is the only guaranteed way to protect yourself from negligent drivers and their false accusations tomorrow.
