But the critics at the publication don’t really care that the Sport trim of the 2020 Cadillac XT5 isn’t a cheetah. This sibling of the redesigned Cadillac Escalade may lack a sporty feel. However, it’s still a good option for those seeking a compact luxury SUV.

The 2020 Cadillac XT5 a good SUV?

Amidst other compact luxury SUVs, yes, the 2020 Cadillac is pretty good. It’s well-rounded, comfortable, and employs what Cars.com calls a “polished powertrain.” That said, it does actually have some drawbacks that keep it from being in the top spot of its class. It doesn’t boast any jaw-dropping impressive features.

The 2020 XT5 is also said to be a bit less refined than some of its competitors. We are hoping for future outgoing models to take some of the tech-rich cabin composure from it’s larger sibling, the newly redesigned Cadillac Escalade. In the 2020 Cadillac XT5 Sport we may be left wanting more in the way of sportiness.

While it’s no road hugging athlete with a raring powertrain, it feels good to most drivers. The 2020 Cadillac XT5 Sport still has plenty going for it in spite of its lack of sport-tuned agility. Plus, it brings a lot to the table for its price.

How much is a 2020 XT5?

Edmunds shows an MSRP of $61,340 for the 2020 Cadillac XT5 Sport, but suggests buyers pay around $53,942. This is about average for the class. In fact, German options like the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and the BMW X5 can both crest the six-figure mark in certain configurations.

If you are hunting for a good compact luxury SUV, the 2020 Cadillac Sport may suit your fancy. Especially if you prefer to choose the American option over foreign competitors, the 2020 XT5 should be on your list of SUVs to test out. While in its Sport trim it might not seem that much more exciting, it’s still a nice luxury SUV with a comfortable cabin and a user-friendly interface.

Alternatives to check out

If you like the 2020 Cadillac Escalade Sport but you aren’t ready to commit, it’s wise to check out some other options. We already mentioned the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and the BMW X5. But are there other comparable alternatives as well?

Another American brand option is the Lincoln Aviator or the Nautilus. Additionally, the Lexus RX, Volvo XC60, Audi Q7, and Acura MDX are all similar to the 2020 Cadillac XT5. Each of these models is worth looking at if you are searching for a luxury SUV that’s smaller than the gargantuan redesigned Cadillac Escalade. The choice always boils down to buyers’ preference in addition to which model you can find for the best price.
