With the Honda Ridgeline, you get crossover SUV performance packaged as a pickup truck. Even though it’s not a “pure pickup,” the Ridgeline is capable, and it offers some pretty unique features. Because of this, critics and consumers agree that this Honda is pretty awesome.

U.S. News ranks the Honda Ridgeline as #1

According to recent data, the Ridgeline is the longest-lasting truck. The Ridgeline’s excellent dependability ratings contribute to its overall ranking as  U.S. News‘ best compact pickup truck for 2020. Reviewers at U.S. News value the Ridgeline for being a cushioned ride and for ita ample power.

There’s only one engine option for the Ridgeline, but it’s a good one. This pickup has a 280-hp, 3.5-liter V6 linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission. As U.S. News highlights, the Ridgeline never feels underpowered even as it hauls heavy cargo. The main drawback here to be aware of is that its towing capacity is below average for the class. When properly equipped, the Ridgeline can tow up to 5,000 pounds; its maximum payload is 1,580 pounds.

What also helps the Ridgeline stand out in the compact pickup truck class is its fuel economy. The Ridgeline returns a combined 21 mpg. This is pretty impressive, considering that the Ridgeline has a V6 and not a four-cylinder.

Consumer Reports loves the Ridgeline’s unique features

Consumer Reports ranks the Ridgeline as its top compact pickup too. While CR isn’t a fan of the Ridgeline’s towing capacity, reviewers felt that this truck’s pros outweighed its cons. CR praises the Ridgeline for its car-like performance and for its unique features, including its dual-action tailgate and in-bed trunk.

Honda designed the Ridgeline’s composite bed so that it never rusts, and it’s scratch-resistant too. CR also appreciates that its built-in trunk is lockable and can carry more than just a toolbox. Although, it’s worth mentioning that the Ridgeline’s trunk bed is on the shallow side.

t’s no surprise that Cars.com named the Ridgeline as its best midsize truck, too. On top of its well-rounded performance, Cars.com road testers loved the Ridgeline’s interior. This Honda arguably has the most attractive car cabin in the class. The Ridgeline’s materials are high-quality, and it has a family-friendly element too.

The Ridgeline can seat up to five people comfortably. Plus, it comes with many helpful in-car gadgets. Honda made more active safety features standard on the 2020 Ridgeline, including forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking.

To stay connected on the road, the Ridgeline also comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, the truck’s 8-inch touchscreen isn’t very user friendly. It can be slow to respond, and some reviewers found it to be extremely frustrating to operate.
