We all want someone we trust or a knowledgeable source to recommend stuff to us. Whether it’s a TV, a restaurant, or even a car, we like going into situations feeling that we will be satisfied with the decision we are about to make. This doubly true when it applies to stuff that is really cool but often seems impractical, like, say, a sports car. Luckily, according to Consumer Reports, the 2021 Porsche Macan S is a satisfying SUV.
The 2021 Porsche Macan S is a great SUV
Consumer Reports has very few concrete negative things to point to on the 2021 Porsche Macan S. it has been about 15 years since Porsche released its first SUV. While the concept seemed a bit strange at first, the idea has taken the automotive world by storm.
The Macan and Cayenne both have proven to be wildly successful and popular concepts for Porsche and the rest of the fancy sports car makers.
The 2021 Porsche Macan hasn’t changed much since the 2020 Porsche Macan
SUVs are quickly taking over the car world. The fact that one of the most popular Porsches is an SUV is all you need to know. Consumer Reports has been crushing on the Macan, and this new list of most satisfying SUVs proves it. If you look even closer, you’ll find that the 2020 Porsche Macan got basically the same review as the 2021 Macan. The Macan seems to be staying consistent.
The 2021 Macan S is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 making 348 hp. In true Porsche form, it still handles like a go-kart. CR says that more than power, this is where the Porsche Macan really comes into its own.
Porsche has long prided itself on running through the corners like a scalded dog. The Macan continues that tradition by cornering flat and fast. It features nicely weighted steering, firm suspension, and a great AWD system to keep everything right where it needs to be in the twisty bits.
Consumer Reports still considers the Macan a good SUV
It can be hard to look at a Porsche badge and see utility, but the Macan still offers enough of it to earn the “U” in SUV. Although the Macan is on the smaller size of the SUV market, it doesn’t completely abandon utility for performance.
It comes standard with AWD and all-season tires and decent ground clearance. Of course, the Macan isn’t going to do any rock crawling, but it does have an off-road mode that uses special traction control to give maxim grip even on slick or loose surfaces. The Macan can even do some towing. It won’t pull your house down, but it can tow up to 5,219 lbs, which is about 2,000 lbs more than the average small SUV.
What is the price of a Porsche Macan?
It ain’t cheap, but it’s a Porsche, after all. The 2021 Porsche Macan starts at $52,100 and tops out at $84,600. The Macan S, as tested by Consumer Reports, costs $63,290. Seeing the interior of the Macan might give a little bit of clarity to the money.
It is a beautiful light tan leather with a variety of materials and soft-touch surfaces abound. There is wood, metal, leather, and some plastics, but the mix of materials really drives home the point that you have bought a luxurious SUV. Although the one pictured is in this beautiful beige leather, Porsche will allow you to pay it a pile of cash to visit the Porsche Design Studio in LA and customize the paint and interior color to your heart’s desire.
Overall the little Porsche SUV is a stone-cold killer
It is a great SUV. Consumer Reports gave it a 76/100 overall, which is surprisingly strong for a luxury/sports car brand. CR tends toward favoring the practical and comfortable over the exciting and fun. Still, the 2021 Porsche Macan seems to live in both worlds and, in doing so, keeps the majority of its owners happy and satisfied with their purchases.
