Consumer Reports just released its list of the most reliable car brands right now. Six SUVs top the list of the top ten. As usual, there is a mix of car manufacturers known for making super reliable SUVs, and a couple of newcomers. These are the most reliable car makers that are churning out the SUVs and trucks you want to buy.

How does Consumer Reports determine the most reliable car manufacturers?

To determine the most reliable car manufacturers, Consumer Reports uses surveys that it sends out to gather information about how well cars, trucks, and SUVs hold up. They take into account 17 different common trouble areas. These include small annoyances like squeaky brakes to bigger problems like transmission and four-wheel drive problems. They assign each of these issues a score from 1 to 100 to determine which are the most reliable cars, and which are the least.

Consumer Reports says that these SUV models will be the most reliable cars. They should give their owners fewer problems than other SUVs. They must have at least two model years’ worth of data to determine how reliable they are. These are the most reliable SUVs from the most reliable car manufacturers.

The 2022 Lexus GX is the most reliable SUV

The 2022 Lexus GX is not just the most reliable SUV right now, it’s the most reliable car. Consumer Reports gives it a reliability rating of 5/5. This is in line with previous Lexus SUV model’s reliability ratings, including the 2019, 2020, and 2021. Each of these Lexus GX model years got a 5/5 for reliability. There’s no reliability rating for the 2018 Lexus GX, but the 2017 Lexus GX also has a 5/5 for reliability.

The 2022 Kia Niro Electric SUV is the second-most reliable car

The 2022 Kia Niro wins the second spot in Consumer Reports’ most reliable cars list. It scores a predicted reliability rating of 5/5. The Kia Niro is relatively new, with the 2019 Kia Niro being the first SUV model year. Both of these Kia Niro model years also scored a 5/5.

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 is the most reliable luxury SUV

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 scores a perfect reliability rating, making it the most reliable luxury SUV. Both the 2019 and 2020 Cadillac XT6 also received a 5/5 for reliability. The 2018 Cadillac XT5 gets a 4/5, which is a great reliability rating.
