Consumer Reports Ranks America’s Favorite Luxury SUV No 4. In Its Class

If that wasn’t clear, America’s favorite luxury SUV would be the Lexus RX. No matter where you go, the Lexus RX sport utility vehicle outnumbers the other luxury sport utility vehicles. The list of luxury SUVs from Consumer Reports is a long one. The 2022 BMW X5 was in first. Oddly enough, the 2022 Lexus RX L snagged second place. This Lexus sport utility vehicle had above-average scores across the board, plus a third row for even more room. The third row isn’t going to be great for adults, but it does offer more cargo space.

In third place, the 2022 Lexus GX impressed the experts. This SUV also has three rows and high reliability and owner satisfaction scores.

Then in fourth place, the 2022 Lexus RX sits. Consumer Reports gave it the “recommended” label and a high overall score. In areas like the road test, predicted reliability, and owner satisfaction, the 2022 RX received above-average scores.

Comparing the top luxury SUVs available in 2022 doesn’t offer much variety, but that’s not bad. All four of these luxury vehicles have a history of reliability. The 2022 Lexus RX has top marks for reliability back to 2000. When a vehicle has a verifiable history like this, you can anticipate having fewer problems overall.

In the owner satisfaction category, the 2022 Lexus RX delivers above-average scores as well. Owners report being satisfied with the comfort, driving experience, and styling of the SUV.

It also gets Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 with forward collision warning (FCW) with pedestrian detection. Lane-departure warning (LDW), blind-spot warning (BSW), and rear-cross traffic warning (RCTW) are also included. Lexus calls these systems different names, but the premise is the same.

Keep an eye out for next year’s Lexus RX SUV

The BMW X5 was just the best luxury SUV available this year when it comes down to it. The RX L was close behind the GX and the regular RX. That doesn’t mean the RX is the wrong choice. It means there are many good choices to choose from. There are 31 midsize luxury SUVs on the list, but only these four had the best scores across the board.

If you aren’t in the market for a new luxury SUV yet, the 2023 Lexus RX was recently unveiled. The RX will come in 350, 350h, 500h F SPORT, and 500h F SPORT Performance. The 500h F Sport Performance variety will get 367 hp and the new DIRECT4 drivetrain for the first time.
