Consumer Reports Ranks the 2022 Volkswagen Arteon Above the Kia Stinger

Consumer Reports reviews many different types of cars, and luxury car segments that are often overlooked are sports sedans and executive cars. These cars, such as the 2022 Volkswagen Arteon, aren’t overly extravagant but still provide a stylish, powerful, and fun ride for customers. This is especially true for the 2022 Volkswagen Arteon, which Consumer Reports ranked above the better-known 2022 Kia Stinger.

According to Consumer Reports, the Volkswagen Arteon received an overall score of 82 out of 100, making it the third-best car in the segment. On top of that, the Arteon performed so well that Consumer Reports also recommended it. The Arteon’s excellent score is primarily thanks to how it performed on its road test.

Thanks to the VW Arteon’s outstanding performance and comfort features, Consumer Reports gave the car a 91 out of 100 on its road test. In both of those areas, Consumer Reports gave the car a 4 out of 5 rating or higher for things like its cargo capacity and its acceleration.

With that being said, the Arteon didn’t perform as well on its predicted reliability and predicted owner satisfaction scores. On both of those categories, Consumer Reports gave the Volkswagen executive sedan an average 3 out of 5 score. Still, the Arteon is an overall higher-rated car than the Kia Stinger.

The VW Arteon slightly beats out the 2022 Kia Stinger

Consumer Reports only gave the Kia Stinger an overall rating of 70 out of 100, which, while not bad, is a notable step down from what the Volkswagen Arteon received. That rating makes the Kia sports sedan the eighth-best car in the segment, which is right in the middle, with only 15 vehicles qualifying. As with the Arteon, the Stinger’s score is primarily thanks to its performance on the road.

The Stinger received a 75 out of 100 on its road test. This was primarily because of its comfort and convenience features. Consumer Reports gave the Stinger a good score for how it drives, but its comfort and convenience features received a lot of 3 out of 5 ratings. For example, the Kia Stinger’s ride quality was only a 3 out of 5, while the VW Arteon’s ride quality was a 4 out of 5. Elsewhere, like with the Arteon, Consumer Reports gave pretty mediocre scores for the Stinger’s predicted reliability and predicted owner satisfaction ratings. In both of those categories, the Stinger also earned 3 out of 5 ratings.

While Consumer Reports rated the Volkswagen Arteon above the Kia Stinger, two other cars in the segment beat the Arteon. The Audi A4 is the second-best luxury compact car available right now, and it has an overall score of 85 out of 100. Like other vehicles in its class, the A4 performed well on its road test, receiving an 88 out of 100 there. The A4’s predicted reliability rating was also good, as it has a 4 out of 5 there. However, the Audi model’s predicted owner satisfaction rating is only a 3 out of 5, which puts it on par with the Arteon and Stinger.

However, the best car in the segment right now is the Infiniti Q50, and it has an overall score of 87 out of 100. Once again, the Q50 performed well on its road test, as Consumer Reports gave it an 85 out of 100 there. Its predicted reliability rating is also very high, as it received a 5 out of 5 on it. That said, the Q50’s predicted owner satisfaction rating is very low, at just 1 out of 5.
