The team at Consumer Reports provides tons of love for the Expedition by deeming it as the best large three-row SUV, the best large SUV for tall drivers, and the most satisfying large SUV. They didn’t give the Nissan Aramada nearly as much praise.
But there are positives to mention about the Armada, like its smooth acceleration and spacious cabin. Although, it’s held back by clumsy handling, a poor fuel economy, and a low-reliability rating.
Does the Expedition drive better than the Armada?
The 2022 Ford Expedition is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 375 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. But the power is increased to 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque on higher trim models. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds.
With the 2022 Nissan Armada, you get a 5.6-liter V8 engine with 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.7 seconds. Both SUVs are about one second faster than the Chevy Tahoe.
The Armada gets an EPA-estimated 14 mpg in the city and up to 19 mpg on the highway. The low fuel economy is difficult to look past. The Ford Expedition gets an EPA-estimated 17 mpg in the city and up to 23 mpg on the highway, which isn’t that much better.
When properly equipped, the Expedition can tow up to 9,300 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,758 lbs. The Armada can tow up to 8,500 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,723 lbs.
Does the Nissan Armada or Ford Expedition have better features?
The 2022 Ford Expedition and 2022 Nissan Armada provide quiet luxury interiors, but the Expedition may feature a smoother ride quality. The Expedition all features more passenger space in each row.

The Armada comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and the Expedition comes with a 12.0-inch screen that can be upgraded to a 15.5-inch unit. Both SUVs offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
You can get started in a 2022 Nissan Armada for $48,900, while the 2022 Ford Expedition begins at around $52,775. Despite being more expensive, the Expedition seems to include more value.
