While car prices are still at an all-time high, Consumer Reports has some suggestions for a reliable SUV option. The SUVs on this list from Buick, Honda, Lexus, and Subaru have active safety features and well-documented reliability history.

Consumer Reports was impressed with the 2019 Buick Envision regarding reliable used SUVs. The Envision score well on the road test and has been a reliable SUV choice. Consumer Reports notes that it offers a few engine types and front-wheel-drive, but make sure you opt for a trim level with active safety features.

The 2019 Honda CR-V is a reliable SUV option

Consumer Reports found the 2019 Honda CR-V was a reliable used SUV. It scored well on the road test and has above-average reliability scores. Drivers are big fans of the SUV and its 27 mpg overall fuel economy. Forward collision warning (FCW), automatic emergency braking (AEB), and blind-spot warning (BSW) are standard on all but the base LX model.

Consumer Reports reccomends the 2019 Lexus NX but not all owners loved it

The 2019 Lexus NX has average scores for the road test and reliability. The owner satisfaction score isn’t great, though. The Lexus NX gets 24 mpg overall, but owners reported it offers compromised visibility, confusing controls, and a stiff ride. FCW, AEB, lane departure warning (LDW), and lane-keeping assist (LKA) are standard.

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 comes with a lot of active safety features

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 is a reliable used SUV with good scores from Consumer Reports. It scored well on the reliability side of things, and the owner satisfaction score was average. The Mazda CX-5 offers 24 mpg overall for drivers and a pretty quiet cabin. FCW, AEB, BSW, rear cross-traffic warning (RCTW) are standard.

Consumer Reports says the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport also has active safety features

For the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport, Consumer Reports found a variety of positives with this SUV. The road test and reliability scores were above-average, although the owner satisfaction score was not. The 2019 Rogue Sport includes FCW and AEB standard, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Opt for the automatic transmission option on the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek

People love the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, and it is clear why. Consumer Reports says the 2019 Crosstrek is reliable, affordable, and offers good fuel economy. With 29 mpg overall and above-average reliability scores, the Subaru Crosstrek is a solid choice. FCW, AEB, and other active safety features are included with the automatic transmission option. It isn’t clear why the manual version doesn’t get such safety systems, but Consumer Reports suggests avoiding that option if possible.
