Consumer Reports Loves the Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester has long been a popular SUV. Since its introduction in the late 1990s, folks have really enjoyed what this vehicle offers. For 2023, the Forester is still a practical SUV with some capabilities that you will not find in other models. And Consumer Reports has taken note, as the publication seems to appreciate what the 2023 Subaru Forester brings to the table.

The 2023 Subaru Forester is a rugged SUV

Although the Subaru Forester is not as rugged as something like a Jeep Wrangler SUV, it does promote an active lifestyle. All Subaru SUVs come equipped with all-wheel drive, and the 2023 Forester is no different. So if you want an AWD SUV and are fine with two rows of seating, this Subaru might make sense.

In addition to coming with standard AWD, the 2023 Subaru Forester also has ample ground clearance. So although you probably shouldn’t attempt rock crawling with this SUV, it can handle some basic off-road situations.

If the typical Forester is not outdoorsy enough for you, Subaru now has an answer. The Subaru Forester Wilderness is intended for those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Or folks who want to have the appearance of having an active lifestyle. With it, you get 9.2 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and water-repellent upholstery.

Is the 2023 Forester a good SUV?

According to Car and Driver and Consumer Reports, the Forester is a good SUV. Highlights include good cargo space, rear seats that can comfortably fit adults, and surprisingly good fuel economy. All of these things are characteristics that folks want from their small SUV.

Another perk of the 2023 Forester is the pretty long list of standard safety equipment. If you want a new SUV, it is likely that safety is a top priority. Especially if you plan to use your vehicle for family purposes.

Standard safety features include things like:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control

These are just some of the key standard safety features of the 2023 Subaru Forester. Of course, there are more, and you can also pay extra to get more advanced systems. But in terms of safety, Subaru seems to be doing quite well for itself.

Is the Forester or Outback bigger?

The Subaru Outback is bigger than the Forester. So if you think you need more room, it might be best to opt for the Outback. That said, the 2023 Forester does make good use of its space. So, it is a small SUV, but it is still practical.
