Consumer Reports says that car shoppers should look for some specific safety features in their new vehicles. They include some of those features in their ratings breakdown, listing whether they are standard, optional or not available.

The 2021 Subaru Forester comes standard with nearly all of the safety features that Consumer Reports recommends. These include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking for the city and highway, and pedestrian detection. Pedestrian detection can detect pedestrians that are in, or may enter, the path of the vehicle. Some can detect cyclists.

In addition, the 2021 Forester has lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and a rear view camera. Unfortunately, the 2021 Subaru Forester has blind spot warning and rear cross traffic warning as optional.

One of the best parts of the 2021 Forester is its price. The Forester starts at $24,795.

According to Consumer Reports, the 2021 Honda CR-V is the best-selling compact SUV, and it’s no surprise why. The 2021 CR-V offers SUV shoppers a great deal. Not only does it come with automatic emergency braking for the city and highway, forward collision warning, and pedestrian detection, but it also has lane departure warning and lane keeping assist. In addition, the CR-V has rear-view camera, anti lock brakes, traction control, stability control, and daytime running lights.

The 2021 Honda CR-V is a great value at $25,350.

The 2021 Lexus UX is a luxury SUV loaded with safety features

The 2021 Lexus UX comes standard with all of the advanced safety systems that Consumer Reports recommends. This includes lane departure warning, which uses cameras to monitor the vehicle’s position between road lines. If the cameras determine that the vehicle is straying across the lines and doesn’t have its turn signal on, it alerts the driver.

The 2021 Lexus UX is slightly more pricey than other sport utility vehicles on this list, but it is a luxury SUV, and you’ll get the luxury touches. The 2021 UX starts at $33,000, still putting it below $35,000, and making it a pretty good buy, considering all of its safety features.
