When it comes to electric SUVs and hybrids, Consumer Reports uses data collected from actual owners when giving a score. The SUVs on this list are still good picks for the most part, but owners took issue with some features that just worked better on other electric vehicles or hybrids. The more satisfying option is listed below if you are hunting for a car with fewer problems.
The Audi E-Tron is one of the least satisfying electric SUV
When it came to satisfying electric SUVs, Consumer Reports left the 2022 Audi E-Tron at the bottom. When the E-Tron completed the road test, the score of 90 out of 100 wasn’t bad. The predicted owner satisfaction came in at an average three out of five, but it wasn’t all day. The predicted reliability score was only a one out of five, which is where the unsatisfying parts came in.
The more satisfying option: 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E
For Consumer Reports, the Honda Insight hybrid had some quirks
The 2022 Honda Insight wasn’t that bad, all things considered. It received an overall score of 80 out of 100, and it came in first on the list of compact cars. However, owners reported not being satisfied with the electric SUV overall. It had some hard-to-use controls, and the seats weren’t very comfortable. Plus, it is so low it can be hard to get in and out of.
The more satisfying option: 2022 Toyota Prius
The Hyundai Ioniq hybrid SUV was average
For the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq, Consumer Reports found a lot of good in the electric SUV. It just wasn’t as satisfying as the other options on the list. The Ioniq scored a 70 overall and a 75 out of 100 on the road test. When it came to the predicted owner satisfaction, the scores were just average.
The more satisfying option: 2022 Toyota Prius Prime
The Hyundai Kona Electric SUV was still in the top 10
Consumer Reports gave the 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric a score of 61 out of 100 overall, which is still respectable. The Kona Electric received below-average scores for the predicted reliability and predicted owner satisfaction. Both of those only racked up a two out of five. On the long list of electric vehicles, the Hyundai Kona Electric made it to number seven out of 40.
The more satisfying option: 2022 Tesla Model 3
If you are looking for an electric SUV or hybrid for your everyday life, these options might not provide. The more satisfying option listed has higher owner satisfaction and scores in general, but that doesn’t mean it will meet all budgets and lifestyles.
