The Tradesman comes with a 5-inch touchscreen that, while small, “has the basics down pat,” according to Edmunds. It also has 18-inch wheels, remote entry and remote start, and an air filtration system. It also comes with a six-speaker sound system. 

The Ram 1500 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick, yet its reliability rating is just a 3/5. To determine the 2022 Ram’s predicted reliability, Consumer Reports used data from the 2019, 2020, and 2021 models. Each of those have reliability ratings of 3/5. Major problem areas in the 2019, 2020, and 2021 Ram 1500 include the power equipment and in-car electronics. The reliability ratings for these in the 2019 model are especially bad, at a 1/5, though they’re not great in the 2020 either, with scores of 2/5. Things improve slightly for the 2021 model year, at a 4/5 for power equipment and a 3/5 for in-car electronics.

The 2022 Ford F-150 is America’s favorite pickup for a reason

The 2022 Ford F-150 is the number one vehicle in the United States and is ranked second on Consumer Reports’ list of the best full-size pickup trucks. Its price starts at approximately $33,500. There are six trim levels available, from the base model XL to the high-end Limited. You can choose from three cab styles: regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew. Additional features in the 2022 Ford F-150 include an eight-inch touchscreen that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 17-inch steel wheels.

Consumer Reports gives the F-150 an overall score of 60/100. Still, it has a below-average predicted reliability rating of just 2/5. Consumer Reports determines this predicted reliability rating by looking at how the 2021 model has fared. Unfortunately, that score is also a 2/5. Major problem areas in the 2021 Ford F-150 include the paint and trim, which score a 2/5. The in-car electronics score is a 3/5.

The 2022 Ford F-250 is the biggest of the best full-size pickup trucks

The 2022 Ford F-250 comes in third and has a starting price of $37,495. The Ford Super Duty can come with one of three engines. There’s a 6.2-liter V8 available that makes 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque and is matched to a 6-speed transmission. Then there’s a 7.3-liter V8 that makes 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Finally, the F-250 can come with a 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel V8 that puts out 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque and is also matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The 2022 Ford F-250 pickup truck has a predicted reliability rating of just 3/5. Consumer Reports thinks that the 2022 F-250 will be about as reliable as the average new car, and determined this predicted reliability rating by using data from the 2019, 2020, and 2021 model years. The 2019 and 2020 Ford F-250s both score a 3/5 for reliability, while the 2021 F-250 has a 4/5.

The fuel system in the 2020 Ford F-250 presents a problem with a rating of 1/5, as does the suspension in the 2021 F-250. Power equipment in the 2020 F-250 is also problematic, and in-car electronics only gets a 2/5. Still, with the reliability of the 2022 Ford F-150 predicted to be only a 1/5, the F-250 might be a better choice.
