Consumer Reports’ Highest Rated 2021 Full-Size Pickup Has a Questionable Reliability Rating

Although some trucks are still waiting for their test, Consumer Reports has dropped the verdict on several fan favorites. The Toyota Tundra and Ram 1500 are currently tied with the top overall score for 2021 full-size pickup trucks. In fact, the 2021 Ram 1500 is sitting pretty up in the top spot despite its questionable reliability rating.

What is the best full-size pickup truck?

According to Consumer Reports, the 2021 Ram 1500 is in first place. The Ram 1500 pickup earned a phenomenal road test score of 83 out of 100. It also shows a 4 out of 5 score for predicted consumer satisfaction.

Then look a little further and you see that it scores among the best average mpg ratings and performance stats. In addition, the 2021 Ram 1500 is a beast when it comes to comfort in the cabin. Both the ride and noise scores are high as well.

The Ram 1500 pickup earned 4 out of 5 for the ride quality and 5 out of 5 for road noise. This is spectacular for a pickup truck. In fact, out of all the trucks of every size that Consumer Reports has rated so far, the 2021 Ram 1500 is the only pickup truck that received a perfect score in terms of road noise. Not even the 2021 Honda Ridgeline achieved the honor of a perfect road noise score.

With only a 2 out of 5 reliability score, the Ram 1500 pickup certainly has a questionable reliability rating. U.S. News and World Report basically agrees

If we head over to the U.S. News and World Report review of the 2021 Ram 1500, the verdict is basically the same. It’s a highly respected and complimented pickup truck model. The Ford F-150 outranks it on the U.S. News 2021 pickup truck list. Which makes things a little more interesting due to the fact that we are still waiting to see the full review of the F-150 from Consumer Reports.

U.S. News loves the 2021 Ram 1500. It’s a nice truck with a premium interior and a smooth quiet ride. However, this critic also shows that Ram 1500 pickup reliability is nothing to write home about. The truck gets a 3 out of 5 predicted reliability rating from J.D. Power, according to U.S. News.

It’s still a good pickup truck

The 2021 Ram 1500 is still great pickup truck. In fact, it’s among the best. It’s won awards for several years and doesn’t seem to have any plans of slowing down. In fact, there’s a good chance that if you try one out you’ll want to take it home.
