Consumer Reports Best Muscle Car Is Also the Most Expensive

When folks are going car shopping, one of the main things people look at is the price tag, as most people want to get the lowest prices for a car. However, sometimes, the best car in the segment is also the most expensive car, and people will just have to pay for quality. When it comes to muscle cars, that’s exactly the case with the 2022 Dodge Charger, which is the most expensive muscle car option but also the best one overall, according to Consumer Reports.

The 2022 Chevy Camaro is the cheapest muscle car option

According to Consumer Reports, the cheapest muscle car right now is the Chevy Camaro. It starts at about $25,000, making it significantly cheaper than the next most affordable option, the Ford Mustang. That price tag will afford customers a pretty good muscle car, as it comes equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that gets 275 horsepower.

While that’s a nice and efficient engine for the base model, muscle car fans are more likely to equip the Camaro with one of the three engines Chevy currently offers. There’s a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 335 horsepower, and then there are two 6.2-liter V8 options. The first one is naturally aspirated and gets 455 horsepower, while the other one is supercharged and gets 650 horsepower.

That said, the best muscle car right now is the most expensive one, and it’s the Charger. It starts at $32,500, but it can go all the way up to about $75,000. It comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 292 horsepower, and Dodge offers five other engine options for the car. There’s a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 300 hp, and then there are four different V8 options.

Dodge offers a 5.7-liter V8 that gets 370 horsepower, a 6.4-liter V8 that gets 485 hp, and two 6.2-liter V8s. Like with the Chevy Camaro, there’s a naturally aspirated version and a supercharged version of that 6.2-liter V8. The naturally aspirated option gets 717 hp, while the supercharged V8 gets 797 hp. That ridiculously powerful Hellcat engine will allow the Charger to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and top out at 203 mph.

Powerful engines are the most important thing about a muscle car, but they’re not the only reason why the Charger is the highest-rated muscle car option. Consumer Reports also liked its comfort capabilities, as it has a quiet cabin and a “supple ride.” On top of that, this Dodge muscle car has some nice and comfortable seats, which will allow drivers and passengers to have a great experience in the car.

The 2022 Ford Mustang is the worst muscle car option

In comparison, the worst muscle car option right now is the Ford Mustang, according to Consumer Reports. It starts at about $27,000, making it much cheaper than the Charger but more expensive than the Camaro. The main reason why Consumer Reports gave the Mustang a poor score is because of its very weak reliability history.

In any case, the Mustang is powerful, and it’ll also have many engine options. It starts with a 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder that gets 310 horsepower, and Ford offers four other engine options. There’s another 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder, but it gets 330 hp instead. Then there are three V8 options, a 5.0-liter V8 that gets 460 hp, a 5.0-liter V8 that gets 480 hp, and a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 that gets 760 hp.
