The 2022 Ford Ranger was one of Consumer Reports picks for best American trucks. It came in second on the list of compact pickup trucks and scored pretty well on the road test. When Consumer Reports tested the predicted reliability, it came in above-average. The predicted owner satisfaction was average, but CR still recommends the truck.

Forward collision warning (FCW) and automatic emergency braking (AEB) are standard on the Ford truck. Lane departure warning (LDW) and lane-keeping assist (LKA) are both optional safety features. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) scored the Ranger with mostly five-star crash test ratings, with some four-star scores sprinkled in.

The 2022 Expedition offers FCW, AEB, LDW, and LKA standard. It also has no recalls. The Expedition mainly received four and five-star crash-test ratings from the NHTSA.
