Consumer Reports’ 6 Favorite Things About the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan

One of the best cars on the market right now is the Volkswagen Tiguan, and it’s a car consumers seem to be paying a lot of attention to. The Tiguan has been selling well, and Volkswagen continues to make significant changes and improvements to the SUV. Here’s a look at six things Consumer Reports likes about the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan.

1. The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan has a roomy cabin for its size

According to Consumer Reports, one of the best things about this VW SUV is how roomy it is. Despite being a compact crossover, the Tiguan has a roomy cabin and a roomy cargo area, too. Not only are the seats comfortable, but they’re spacious, even in the second row.

On top of having a lot of cargo capacity, Volkswagen also gave the Tiguan a lot of interior cabin storage space. In particular, the front passengers will have a spacious bin they can put stuff in.

2. Volkswagen gave the Tiguan some user-friendly controls

Like Consumer Reports wrote, the interior of the Tiguan is where it shines, and this is true when it comes to its controls. The buttons are simple and straightforward to use, and this is the same story with its touch screen. Additionally, even the controls on the steering wheel are easy-to-use. The Tiguan’s steering wheel controls can control the car’s multi-information display, which is located in front of the driver.

3. Drivers and passengers will have an easy time accessing the Tiguan

Not only are the controls easy, but getting into the car is also easy. This is mostly thanks to the large openings which should allow folks to easily step into the car without getting themselves into an awkward position. This is also true for getting into the rear of the car, as it has, “an enormous entryway,” according to Consumer Reports.

4. The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan gives the driver good visibility

Another positive quality that the Tiguan has is its driver visibility. Thanks to how VW designed the car, the driver should have an easy time looking through the car’s front, side, and rear windows. This is thanks to the fact that the side windows are large, but the windshield pillars are thin. There are also some small triangular mirrors that will help drivers look around their side mirrors.

5. The Tiguan has a pretty good fuel economy

While the Tiguan may not be a fast car, its 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine does provide it with a good fuel economy, especially for an SUV of its class. On top of that, Volkswagen was able to make some fuel economy improvements with the Tiguan’s engine. That upgrade is very beneficial especially since gas prices are so high.

Currently, the Tiguan gets 16 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on highways, for 25 mpg combined. That’s an above-average fuel economy for an SUV in its class. Additionally, drivers can achieve that fuel economy with just regular gas. In the past, drivers would’ve needed to use premium to hit those numbers.

6. Customers can add a third-row to the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan

Despite being a compact crossover, VW also offers the option to add a third-row of seats to the Tiguan. This can be very useful for large families who need to use all three rows. The VW SUV can get up to seven seats with the third-row option, but this isn’t a total upgrade. Like Consumer Reports wrote, while the first two rows of seats are spacious and comfortable, the third-row seats aren’t. They’re cramped and as such, they’re only suitable for kids.
