Have you ever tried to justify a bad report card grade? It’s tough for even the most creative of us to make an excuse for a score of 20%. The 2022 Jeep Compass got a 1/5 for predicted owner satisfaction. Ouch. This score is another way of saying that many consumers will not be happy with a 2022 Jeep Compass over time.

This seems a bit harsh, but the Jeep Compass competes in a tough vehicle segment. Compact SUVs are currently the most popular vehicles in America. Models like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 have dominated the market for years. It’s tough for another compact SUV to climb rankings, but models like the Hyundai Tucson and Mazda CX-5 have managed to do it by providing plenty of value. The Jeep Compass does not provide sufficient value for its price based on its Consumer Reports overall score.

The 2022 Jeep Compass has an overall score of 45 on its Consumer Reports vehicle review. This is the lowest score of any compact SUV that has been graded thus far. The Jeep Compass scored a 56/100 on CR’s road test. It scored a 2/5 or 40% for predicted reliability. Jeep SUVs are notoriously unreliable.

The 2022 small Jeep SUV received such a lousy score from CR because its acceleration, ride quality, and fuel economy are all decent. Decent doesn’t cut the mustard in a vehicle segment as competitive as the compact SUV segment. Consumer Reports listed cabin noise, lack of speed, and ride discomfort as some of its main gripes.

The Jeep Compass is too rough for most consumers. If you don’t plan on off-roading, it probably isn’t for you. Even if you are in the market for a small off-road SUV, there are several better alternatives. Pass on the Jeep Compass and look into a Subaru Forester if you want a compact off-road SUV that can double as a daily driver.
