Owners report being satisfied with the Bronco Sport, but that’s to be expected. Ford included standard safety features such as forward collision warning (FCW) and automatic emergency braking (AEB). BSW is available on all trim levels besides the base and Special Edition, so try to find an option with it included.

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has pretty perfect scores across the board from Consumer Reports. It was at the top of the list for similar compact SUVs and is a designated “green choice.” The Tucson sport utility vehicle performed well on the road test, has a history of reliability, and the owner satisfaction score was high. Hyundai equipped the Tucson with FCW, AEB with pedestrian detection, and BSW. Buyers can opt for a hybrid powertrain that returns 35 mpg overall, beating the gasoline version.

The Subaru Forester is an off-road capable compact SUV

Another compact SUV with standard safety systems is the 2022 Subaru Forester. Consumer Reports put the Forester in first place for similar vehicles, thanks to Subaru’s thoughtful design. The 2022 Forester did well on the road test and has a high score for reliability. The predicted owner satisfaction was also pretty high. Subaru equipped the Forester SUV with FCW, AEB with pedestrian detection, and highway speed AEB thanks to the EyeSight safety system. BSW is available on the premium trim level.

From Toyota, the RAV4 is a compact SUV with standard active safety systems

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 comes in various powertrain options such as gas, hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid known as the RAV4 Prime. Consumer Reports says it was quick and frugal. The gasoline version gets 27 mpg overall to the hybrid’s 37 mpg. Toyota is known for making reliable and long-lasting SUVs; the 2022 version doesn’t stray from that. FCW, AEB with pedestrian detection, and highway speed AEB are standard safety systems thanks to Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. BSW is an option on all trim levels besides the base LE trim.
