A Colorado avalanche easily tossed a Ram 1500 off the highway
When I think about avalanches, I think about ski slopes and the side of the mountain. However, avalanches can mean trouble for drivers as well. An avalanche in Colorado easily swept a Ram 1500 off the highway, leaving a man unconscious.
This Colorado avalanche knocks Ram 1500 off the highway
A Valentine’s Day errand quickly turned into an emergency survival situation in Loveland Pass, Colorado. Ironically, this is where an avalanche struck on February 14.
Vu Nguyen, a man from Texas, was visiting his family members in the area. He was driving a borrowed Ram 1500 through Loveland Pass when an avalanche struck the Seven Sister 6 slide path.
According to Unofficial Networks, the avalanche was near the Loveland Ski Area. It was about 164 feet wide and 5 feet deep.
The snow easily tossed the Ram 1500 off the highway. Nguyen was knocked unconscious during the incident. Nguyen could remember driving in the dark, windy weather as it snowed. He heard a loud rumbling noise and then could feel the truck rolling and tumbling before things went black.
Then he woke up with his face in the snow, upside down. After waking up, he crawled through a broken window and started to make his way up a steep slope. He suffered minor injuries.
Other drivers stopped on the side of the road and used a rope to help Nguyen climb up to the pavement. Clear Creek police officers were thankful that no one was seriously injured. They shared that the truck will be removed once it’s safe to remove it.
