If you drive a recent Chrysler Pacifica or Voyager, an urgent safety notice should be demanding your attention right now. Today, Chrysler’s parent company, FCA US LLC, has issued a recall for thousands of its popular people carriers due to a serious defect with their side curtain air bags, which may fail to protect occupants in a crash.
The recall, filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, affects certain 2022 to 2026 model year Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager vehicles. The issue is pretty dangerous, so requires a quick response from owners.
What Is the Safety Risk?
According to the official NHTSA report, the right and left side curtain air bags in the affected vehicles may have been manufactured with improperly sealed seams. This defect means the air bags may not maintain the right pressure when they’re used during an accident.
In a crash, particularly a side-impact or rollover incident, side curtain air bags are designed to protect occupants’ heads and prevent them from being thrown from the vehicle. However, an air bag that cannot hold pressure won’t help. In fact, the failure increases the risk of ejection and serious injury to anyone inside
. The defect causes these vehicles to fail compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, which specifically governs ejection mitigation.

What Owners Must Do Now
Chrysler has stated that it will begin notifying affected owners by post, with letters expected to be mailed on May 14, 2026. However, owners should not wait to receive a letter to take action. As of today, April 2, 2026, you can check if your vehicle is included in this recall by entering your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number on the NHTSA’s recall website.
This new campaign expands upon two previous recalls (NHTSA numbers 25V302 and 25V573). This means that even if your vehicle was previously repaired under one of those recalls, it will still need to have this new remedy completed to ensure it is safe.
The fix involves dealers replacing the side curtain air bags as necessary, and this will be carried out completely free of charge.
To schedule a repair or for more information, owners can contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. You can reference Chrysler’s internal recall numbers for this issue, which are 06D, 10D, and 11D.
Given the serious nature of this defect, we at MotorBuscuit urge you to check your vehicle’s status immediately. An air bag is a safety feature you hope never to use, but you must be able to trust it will work correctly if you ever need it.
