Sorry, some models of the Chevrolet Silverado are unavailable. Chevy trucks with the beefy 6.2-liter V8 engine are sitting pretty because of a recall without a solution. The stop sale and recall are related to engine defects.
Some Chevy trucks can’t be sold due to an unfixable recall
Chevy trucks might be hurting because one of the most desirable engine options is off the table. General Motors is technically the automaker that’s in hot water here because certain GMC Sierra trucks can’t be sold either.
GM trucks with the 6.2-liter V8 engine are under a stop-sale until further notice because it would be illegal to let one roll off the lot.
When vehicles are under recall they can’t be legally sold until the problem has been corrected. Currently, there is no fix for the recall related to the 6.2-liter V8 engine defects. According to Torque News, drivers are becoming frustrated as they can’t get their trucks repaired.
Basically, the crankshaft and connecting rod may have been damaged during the manufacturing process. As a result, the engine could become damaged, fail completely, or cause a sudden loss of power.
Roughly 721,000 trucks made between 2021 to 2024 with the 6.2-liter V8 engine fall under this recall. It also includes SUVs and Cadillac models with this engine. General Motors might end up having to replace every single engine.
The plot thickens as General Motors faces a lawsuit that claims it knew about the engine defects and sold vehicles anyway. Now people are starting to become impatient due to delays.
