The Next Chevy Truck Recall Due to Transmission Problems is Looming
Not again! Chevrolet trucks could be experiencing another transmission problem. A new bulletin for Chevy trucks like the Silverado and Colorado mentions instructions for a transmission reaction carrier mix.
Chevy trucks could have a new transmission problem
Oh no, owners of certain 2025 – 2026 Chevy trucks might have to visit a dealership for service. The Silverado and Colorado could be at risk of an annoying transmission problem.
According to a General Motors dealership bulletin, trucks equipped with the 8L80 or 8L90 transmissions could be at risk of the transmission reaction carrier cracking.
General Motors technicians will inspect the models at risk and replace the reaction carrier as necessary. The repairs will be performed at no cost to owners regardless or age or vehicle mileage until October 31, 2027.
To figure out which trucks need these repairs, dealerships are required to review the Investigate Vehicle History database in the General Motors Warranty Management System. Vehicles may have an issue if they are tagged as needing a repair.
New and used Chevy trucks are being inspected and repaired before drivers take possession. Also, these models can’t be traded or auctioned off until they’re fixed.
Owners at risk will be notified via mail. So, this is already being treated like a formal recall. It could turn into one based on the amount of impacted models.
The transmission carrier acts as an anchor point for an automatic transmission’s planetary gear sets. The reaction carrier holds gears firm as they create different ratios by absorbing the necessary torque for gear changes.
It’s essential for handling the stress of powertrain operation. Signs of failure may include shifting issues, difficult gear changes, harsh shifting, delayed engagement, clunking sounds, grinding noises, fluid leaks, jerking sensations, and a sudden loss of power.
