Wow, the Chevy Silverado 1500 looks great in uniform. We can’t stop starting at the 2023 Chevy Silverado Police Pursuit Vehicle. However, this isn’t a truck that we want to see in our rearview mirror.

According to Police 1, this is the first-ever pursuit-related Silverado, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. It’s a four-door, short-bed, four-wheel drive pickup that’s designed for high speeds and dynamic capability. It can even go off-roading.

Ed Peper, U.S. Vice President of General Motors Fleet, shared that they are constantly having conversations with customers to evaluate how to better meet their needs.

With 25 years of engineering Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicles coupled with Chevrolet’s 100 years of truck success, they are in an excellent position to deliver a truly capable Silverado PPV to customers.

How much power does the Silverado PPV have?

The Chevy Silverado Police Pursuit Vehicle is equipped with a 5.3-liter V8 engine that cranks out 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. This is the smallest V8 option. We wonder why General Motors didn’t go with the 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The powertrain is paired with the standard 10-speed automatic transmission and includes a standard heavy-duty engine air filter to optimize performance. Plus, the truck has six-piston Brembo brake front calipers with 16-inch rotors for enhanced braking durability.

To ensure confidence on the road at top speed, the Silverado PPV is equipped with a certified speedometer, 20-inch black steel wheels, and 20-inch all-terrain speed-rated tires. The Silverado PPV has a 46.9-foot turning radius, so it can quickly whip around.

Also, the police Chevy Silverado is well equipped to get work done. It can tow up to 9,300 lbs to help transport trailers for marine and mounted divisions. For off-roading, the Silverado PPV comes with standard ranchero shocks, a locking rear differential, and a skid plate.

The Silverado’s off-roading capabilities give it an edge over the competition. With the optional two-inch suspension lift, the Silverado has an 11.35-inch ground clearance and a 25.9-degree approach angle.

How safe is the Silverado PPV?

The Chevy Silverado Police Pursuit Vehicle considers law enforcement personnel safety to be crucial for success. A standard suite of safety features will help people stay in control and avoid collisions.

With the Chevrolet Safety Assist package, you get lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, automatic emergency braking, and front pedestrian braking.

Optional features include automatic high beams, protected idle, adaptive cruise control, rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and lane change alert with slide blind zone alert.

We can’t wait to see the Silverado PPV tackle the streets and the wilderness. We will keep you updated on how it performs.
