Chevrolet has made some of the best cars, trucks, and SUVs to buy in automotive history. However, like all automakers, the company isn’t perfect. Some of its less-than-stellar vehicles are considered failures due to poor reliability, whereas others have this reputation because of low sales. Either way, here are three failed vehicles Chevrolet probably wishes drivers would forget. 

The Chevrolet Avalanche isn’t one of the best trucks to buy

Drivers have several options when looking for the best trucks to buy. Many come from Chevrolet, but most will agree that the Avalanche isn’t one of them. Introduced in 2001 as a 2002 model, the company hoped to capitalize on the popularity of trucks by introducing something unique. However, unlike many Chevrolet vehicles, this one came with several issues that persisted throughout much of its market run. These manifested through transmission problems, random check engine lights, and cracked dashboards. 

As with most Chevrolet vehicles, the Avalanche has some decent model years. However, if anyone is looking for an older vehicle, they should skip the models from 2002 to 2005 and the ones from 2007, 2008, and 2010. The truck was pretty popular for some time. However, sales took a hit in 2011, and Chevrolet discontinued it in 2013. Still, it’s not uncommon to see it on the road today. 

The 2011-2013 Chevrolet Cruze isn’t among its best vehicles

It’s not uncommon for people looking for the best cars to buy to consider compact options. They’re often affordable, with just the right amount of interior space. However, one of the most talked-about Chevrolet vehicles in recent memory is the Cruze. Many love the small car, whereas others find it problematic. The automaker introduced it in 2011, and quite a few buyers flocked to it. Still, the 2011-2013 models are often considered the worst of the lineup. 

Some issues with the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Cruze models include transmission problems, engine malfunctions, and faults with various electrical components. Chevrolet stopped making it in 2019 to focus more resources on EVs. Still, many buy it today as a used car. 

The Chevy Volt isn’t perfect

Another of Chevrolet’s highly discussed and debated vehicles is the Volt. A plug-in hybrid, the car was introduced to the market in 2011. Initially, there was considerable excitement surrounding it, as it served as an ultra-fuel-efficient option without straying too far into EV territory. While some call it one of the best used cars to buy, there are some models to avoid. This is especially the case for the 2012, 2013, 2017, and 2018 editions. 

According to CBS News, Chevrolet discontinued the Volt in 2019 due to low sales as well as the company’s desire to focus on all-electric cars. Still, despite a mixed reputation, some drivers love the Volt.
