The Chevrolet pattern continues. First, this brand offers new elements in its half-ton Silverado 1500 truck lineup, and then these same changes arrive in the bigger models. The 2024 version of the Chevrolet Silverado HD will feature some of the same interior upgrades, but with a modern flair, as what we’ve already seen in the half-ton truck.

Very little revealed by Chevrolet

You might think the team at GM Authority could get a full rundown on what the 2024 version of this heavy-duty truck will offer, but that’s not the case. Certainly, GM Authority will have all the details first, but with the new interior design more than a year away, GM wants to keep some of the new items under wraps.

Some features stick out in the testing models of the Chevrolet Silverado HD

Using spy photos, GM Authority tells us they could see a few items that stand out as part of the new interior design. These include a tall, vertically oriented vent with horizontal slats, polished trim surround, a large gauge pod hood, and some stitched upholstery.

An expected result for this Chevy truck

The overall feeling of the new interior gives the Silverado HD a similar style and layout as the upgraded 2022 Silverado 1500. This was exactly what most experts thought would happen for this truck lineup because it’s what GM has done in the past with new features and truck styling.

Which trims of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD should receive the interior upgrades?

Similar to the smaller version, the LT trim level and beyond will likely receive the upgraded interior elements. The Silverado 1500 delivers these items starting at the LT trim as well. The older interior features will remain for the lower trims including, WT and Custom models.

The ZR2 name is making the rounds and will be a trim added to the Silverado HD lineup for 2024. This new model could give us the off-road qualities desired in this heavy-duty truck. The new ZR2 is an equivalent model to the GMC Sierra HD AT4X in terms of off-road capability. This new Chevy truck should have:

  • Revised front and rear bumpers
  • Underbody protection
  • Front and rear locking differentials
  • 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires

Should we see more power from the Chevrolet Silverado HD powertrains in 2024?

The 6.6-liter Duramax turbocharged diesel engine could produce 1,100 lb-ft of torque and more than 500 horsepower by the 2024 model year. The gasoline engine, a 6.6-liter V8 model, will use the GM 10-speed automatic transmission and ditch the old six-speed model. This means better performance and more power for consumers that turn to the Silverado HD lineup.

What’s the difference between a Silverado 1500 and Silverado HD?

There are some obvious differences, but the cabin sizes are nearly identical in these two trucks. The heavy-duty models are a little larger on the inside, but not by much. This makes adding elements from the Silverado 1500 to the Silverado HD much easier for the GM team. According to The News Wheel, other main differences include:

  • Overall size and weight
  • Power for towing and payload
  • Pricing
  • Engine options

Will you want to buy the 2024 version of the Silverado HD?

If you’ve thought about stepping up to a heavy-duty truck, you might want to wait and see what the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD brings to the market. We don’t have much to go on yet, but as we come closer to the 2024 model year, you can bet we’ll have all the details necessary to help you figure out if this will be the heavy-duty truck you want to drive.
