Sometimes we get so blown away by a vehicle’s tech features that we forget that we’ll spend almost all of our time inside the vehicle on the seats. The 2023 Honda Pilot ushers in a new, fourth-generation with a full package of impressive interior upgrades. These improvements to one of the favorites among midsize three-row crossover SUVs make the Pilot better than ever.

Is the new 2023 Honda Pilot the most upscale Honda SUV ever made?

Yes, the new version of the Pilot is a midsize three-row crossover SUV that hits all the right notes. Honda gave this SUV clean surfaces, sophisticated materials, and premium items. This new, modern interior takes the new Honda design direction much higher than ever before.

You’ll first notice the clean, uncluttered instrument panel top that removes windshield reflections. This change improves outward visibility, improving this Honda SUV’s overall driving safety.

The 2023 Honda Pilot offers more comfortable seats and is more spacious than before. Kelley Blue Book tells us the legroom in the second row is 40.8 inches, which is more than what you find in the Kia Telluride. These second-row seats also recline up to 10 degrees to offer more comfort in this cabin area. The third row of this SUV is also more spacious than before.

How have the front seats of the new Honda Pilot been upgraded?

The new front seats are called Body Stabilizing seats, designed to reduce fatigue during long drives. This can be an excellent upgrade if you use this SUV for your daily commute or when you want to take your family out for some weekend adventures.

More versatility is offered at higher trims of the 2023 Honda Pilot

If you select the Touring or Elite models of this midsize three-row crossover SUV, you’ll have a bit more versatility than with lower trims. These trims include removable second-row seats that can be stored under the rear cargo area. You won’t need to leave these seats at home or choose between the passenger room and cargo room with these trim levels.

This versatility in the second row offers three seating options which are:

  • A traditional bench with room for three passengers, equaling room for eight passengers
  • The captain’s chair setup with the middle seat down provides a large armrest and more cup holders
  • A configuration with a large pass-through to the rear seats when the middle seat in the second row is removed

Are there other features that make this new Honda SUV better than ever?

The 2023 Honda Pilot is the only midsize three-row crossover SUV with seating for eight and a large, opening panoramic sunroof. The sunroof is standard for the higher Touring and Elite trims.

All trims of the 2023 Pilot have heated seats with the TrailSport and Elite models, including a heated steering wheel. If you choose the EX-L or Touring trims, you’ll have leather upholstery, while the Elite model turns the comfort up a notch with perforated leather upholstery and ventilated front seats.
