Hyundai Worldwide decided that to really shine the spotlight on the new electric vehicle lineup, the BTS members were the right ones for the job. The automaker went on to say that even though electric vehicles are not that new, one particular EV has never stolen the spotlight – until the Hyundai IONIQ lineup.

Hyundai said the collaboration with BTS and the IONIQ I’m On It video were meant to empower “you to live life your own way, in an eco-friendly way.” The individual members have different desires and personalities, which translates well to the IONIQ electric vehicle lineup. “Individually, we all look for different things in life, but collectively, we come together for a better future,” BTS member Jimin said.

Right now, the IONIQ line features a few different vehicles. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric SUV and the IONIQ electric vehicle. The IONIQ 5 starts at $44,000 and has a range of 320 miles. The IONIQ sedan starts at $33,245 and has a range of 170 miles. It is also still eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit at the time of publishing.

What was Hyundai’s inspiration for the IONIQ EV lineup?

Hyundai first got into the IONIQ game back in 2016. The term IONIQ is a combination of ion and unique. “An ion has low mass and high mobility; electricity transforms to energy and power when two positively charged ions flow,” Hyundai said. The goal was to bring life and mobility together to create an electric vehicle lineup that suited many needs.

Hyundai aimed to understand future customer requirements, develop new types of vehicles, and create something that “extend the role and definition of mobility.” One of those ideas included a portable electric scooter that fit into the door of the IONIQ sedan for more mobilibity. The research has brought out the IONIQ electric vehicle, the plug-in hybrid, and the regular hybrid vehicle.

No matter where the journey started, the IONIQ 5 electric SUV and IONIQ sedan have received high marks from experts so far. The fact that the BTS members helped launch the lineup with this collaboration is just icing on the cake!
