The primary attraction of hybrid cars is high fuel economy. And on this front, the 2023 Corolla Hybrid delivers. It gets an estimated gas mileage of up to 53 city/46 highway mpg. However, it’s worth noting that this is a drop in highway mpg compared to the 2022 version (up to 53 city/52 highway mpg).

The trade-off, though, is the upgraded 2023 model is more powerful, with an output of 134 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. While that output won’t blow anyone away in a race, it’s a 13 horsepower and 51 lb-ft of torque increase compared to the outgoing model. Also, in 2023, the compact sedan offers the new Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive system — for enhanced traction. Furthermore, the 2023 Corolla Hybrid is more affordable. In a rarity for these times of high inflation, it costs $1,250 less than the 2022 model.
