In addition to being the cheapest new Toyota hybrid model, the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid is also expected to be highly reliable. Consumer Reports predicts the 2023 model will be “much more reliable than the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2020, 2021, and 2022 models.”

Furthermore, Kelley Blue Book gave the 2023 Corolla Hybrid a 4.4 out of 5 reliability score.

As a whole, hybrid cars are the most reliable type of vehicle, according to Consumer Reports. They are more reliable than fully gas-powered cars and EVs. For its annual Auto Reliability Survey, in which Consumer Reports collected owner surveys for over 300,000 vehicles, owners reported fewer problems with hybrids than other vehicle types.

What’s the gas mileage of the 2023 Corolla Hybrid?

The primary attraction of hybrid cars is high fuel economy. And on this front, the 2023 Corolla Hybrid delivers. It gets an EPA-estimated gas mileage of 53 mpg in the city and 46 mpg on the highway. However, it’s worth noting the latter number represents a drop in highway gas mileage compared to the 2022 model (53 mpg city/52 mpg highway).

The trade-off, though, is the upgraded 2023 model is more powerful, producing 134 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque. Though that output won’t blow anyone away in a race, it’s a 13-hp and 51-lb-ft-torque boost over the outgoing model. Also, in 2023, the compact car has Toyota’s new Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive system for enhanced traction. Furthermore, the 2023 Corolla Hybrid is more affordable. A rarity in these times of high inflation, it costs $1,250 less than the 2022 model.

If you want an efficient Toyota hybrid that’s not too harsh on your bank account, check out the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. It’s the cheapest new Toyota hybrid and, according to Consumer Reports and Kelley Blue Book data, one of the most reliable new cars.
