When one thinks of affordable vehicles, models such as subcompact sedans come to mind. Conversely, pickup trucks tend to be more expensive. This is especially the case in recent years as trucks have been getting more luxurious.

However, for affordability, the best Ford model is a pickup truck. The automaker no longer sells sedans in the United States. Also, previously, the cheapest new Ford was the EcoSport subcompact crossover SUV. However, the EcoSport was discontinued. For 2023, the most affordable new Ford car in the U.S. is the Maverick. It has a starting price of $22,195. Furthermore, not only is the Maverick the most affordable new Ford, but it’s also the cheapest new pickup truck available for the American market.

Following the Ranger, the third and fourth most affordable Ford models are the Escape compact crossover SUV ($27,500 MSRP and the Mustang sports car ($27,770 MSRP).

The Maverick is the most affordable new Ford, but the automaker offers four other models that cost under $30,000. Along with the aforementioned Ranger, Escape, and Mustang, this includes the Bronco Sport compact crossover SUV.

High fuel economy makes the Maverick even more affordable

Another aspect of the 2023 Ford Maverick adds to its affordability: high fuel economy, especially for the standard hybrid powertrain. One of the most significant costs of vehicle ownership is gasoline. However, the efficient Maverick makes filling up the gas tank a more affordable endeavor. The Maverick Hybrid gets an estimated fuel economy of up to 42 city/33 highway mpg, while the fully gas-powered version has a gas mileage of up to 23 city/30 highway mpg.

Furthermore, the affordable price of the Maverick doesn’t mean that that truck is low-quality or lacking in features. On the contrary, the Maverick has a refined interior. Plus, it offers excellent value with its many standard features. Even if you opt for the base-level XL trim, you’ll get standard remote keyless entry, LED headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and a rearview camera. Additionally, all Maverick trims come standard with the innovative FLEXBED, which provides a great deal of configurability and DIY solutions.

As the cheapest Ford model, the 2023 Maverick is a wonderful choice for Ford customers that are on a tight budget. On top of that, the Maverick is a great all-around pickup truck. Given its low price, high fuel economy, and other positive attributes, it’s no surprise that it’s such a popular vehicle.
