Thanks to Autotempest’s awesome search feature, we found this 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 for sale at Heller Ford Sales in El Paso, Illinois. Admittedly, there was an even cheaper one available, but it sold within about 24 hours of appearing in the Autotempest results! These cars are a great deal and are a very hot commodity!

This black GT500 has only 42,500 original miles on the odometer. Best of all, it’s the fan-favorite color combination of both a black interior and black exterior. Moreover, this GT500 really takes the fan-favorite cake because of its transmission. It features the desirable six-speed manual Tremec transmission.

All of this seems like a pretty great deal for the asking price of $31,962. Considering the recent view counter on the Heller Ford website showing that 105 people recently looked at it, it seems the rest of the car community agrees that this is a great deal.

Sure, it’s not nearly as insane as the current GT500 when it comes to power output. However, the S197s offering a manual transmission where the current generation does not is enough to get plenty of automotive enthusiasts excited. Additionally, it certainly isn’t a slouch.

Older GT500 models still pack plenty of punch

Under the hood of the S197 generation GT500 is a supercharged 5.4-liter V8. It’s the same modular engine platform that the Ford F-150 Lightning and the legendary Ford GT supercar used, both of which also have supercharged 5.4-liter V8s.

The example in this 2007 GT500 puts out a more-than-plentiful 500 horsepower. According to Motorweek, this generation GT500 will still happily sprint from zero to 60- miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds. If that isn’t enough, it can also do a 12-second quarter-mile at 112 miles per hour completely stock!

For less than half of the price of buying a new GT500, these cars are an absolute steal. Recently, a near-perfect example with only 8,000 original miles on the odometer sold for under $40,000 on the auction website Cars and Bids.

Perhaps the best part about the cheapest GT500 generation, though, is that they are still indeed Shelby Mustangs. Better yet, this was the final generation of GT500 that Carroll Shelby was alive to see upon the car’s release. So, there’s a very good chance that these cars are going to appreciate over time. They may be the underloved GT500 stepchild at the moment. However, that seems very likely to change.

Overall, though this is currently the cheapest GT500 for sale in the U.S., this price point is not at all uncommon for this generation. In some cases, they can be found for under $30,000. So, if you’re in the market for the iconic GT500 heritage without blowing six figures, there’s no better time to buy one of these beauties!
