One of the harsh realities of driving is that car wrecks are common. Some are worse than others, but they don’t usually lead to people being inside their vehicles for several days. Still, this is what happened recently in Indiana when a woman was involved in a car accident. Because so much time passed, her family had begun to assume the worst.

This woman got into a car wreck, and her loved ones didn’t see her for several days

According to WGN TV, Brieonna Cassell, 41, was reported missing to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office on March 6th. The report says that the Wheatfield, Indiana, woman left her mother’s home to visit friends, and no one saw her or her Ford Taurus after that. Fast-forward to March 11th, and a man, Johnny Martinez, spotted her crashed vehicle off the roadway.

The story continues, and it seems the man somehow noticed that there was someone inside who had been impacted by the car wreck. From there, he reached out to his supervisor, who happens to be the fire chief for that area. Luckily, they were able to get Brieonna out of the vehicle. She was alert and could speak. In total, she had been pinned inside the car for about six days.

Ultimately, emergency responders airlifted the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment. Regarding how she survived for so long after the car wreck, Brieonna would fling her shirt into the nearby creek for water. She would then wring the water into her mouth in order to remain hydrated. As for why she couldn’t call for help, her cell phone had fallen under her seat, meaning it was out of reach. Now, the woman has compound fractures in her legs in addition to other injuries. She has a long road to recovery, but her family is happy she’s alive.
