Hyundai and Kia make some of the best and most affordable cars to buy, despite their not-always-stellar reputations. Despite this, the automakers are now issuing new car recalls on some of their most popular EV nameplates. Luckily, auto mechanics at Hyundai and Kia dealerships can fix the issue for free.

Hyundai and Kia are both issuing car recalls for the same issue

As mentioned, Hyundai and Kia are both responsible for some of the best cars to buy. Still, this doesn’t exempt them from car recalls. According to Reuters, the Hyundai issue concerns 145,235 vehicles that could suddenly lose power. Naturally, this can create dangerous situations for drivers. This includes some Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 vehicles.

The Genesis GV60, GV70, and GV80 models from 2022 to 2025 are also included. The list of the specific models is below.

Regarding the car recalls, the issue is that the Integrated Charging Control Units are prone to damage and could stop charging the batteries. As mentioned, this could result in a loss of drive power. Luckily, auto mechanics at dealerships can inspect the vehicles and perform the necessary fixes.

The second of the two car recalls concerns the Kia EV6 from 2022 to 2024. Like the Hyundai issue, these vehicles could experience a loss of drive power due to damage to the Integrated Charging Control Unit. This impacts about 62,000 units of what many call one of the best all-electric SUVs. Again, auto mechanics at Kia dealers will inspect the vehicles and fix them for free.

The complete list of vehicles included in the car recalls is below:

  • 2022-2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5
  • 2023-2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6
  • 2023-2025 Genesis GV60
  • 2023-2025 Genesis GV70
  • 2023-2024 Genesis G80
  • 2022-2024 Kia EV6
