There’s no question that Ford makes some of the best cars for people to buy. Still, no automaker is perfect, as they all have to issue car recalls from time to time. Now, the Blue Oval is facing increased scrutiny from the NHTSA, which is launching a probe into two recent recalls following persisting issues with the impacted vehicles. Of course, this comes after Ford was hit with the largest civil penalty in the history of the NHTSA.

The NHTSA is investigating multiple Ford car recalls

According to Reuters, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has stated that it plans to launch a probe into two recent Ford car recalls. The first of the two investigations concerns 457,000 of what many would call some of the best cars to buy. This includes the 2021 to 2024 Ford Bronco Sport and the 2022 to 2023 Ford Maverick.

Specifically, there is a concern that these vehicles experience sudden power loss. There was a recall for this issue, but five owners have complained about the issue after getting the necessary repairs. This loss of power issue stems from 12-volt batteries.

As mentioned, the NHTSA is looking into multiple Ford car recalls. The other probe is into the Ford Expedition SUV from 2019 to 2020. This comes after a recall of 78,000 units of the Expedition over a dangerous seatbelt issue. The NHTSA has received at least three reports of people with this issue whose vehicles were not included in the initial recall. Because of this, the NHTSA believes that 113,000 units of the popular SUV could have this seatbelt problem.

Notably, this comes after the announcement that Ford is liable for a $165 million penalty for not issuing car recalls quickly enough.
