Stellantis is recalling multiple SUVs over a significant brake defect
Stellantis and its cars are having a terrible year. Several new models are sitting on dealer lots waiting for owners, and now the automaker has a new car recall on its hands. This time, the recall concerns over 20,000 of what many may call some of the best new cars on the market despite not being popular. Still, people own these vehicles and should be aware that auto mechanics at various Stellantis dealerships can issue a fix.
Stellantis has a new car recall on its hands amid widespread layoffs
Several cars fall under the Stellantis umbrella. However, the automotive giant is issuing a recall for more than 20,000 SUVs from Dodge and Alfa Romeo. According to Kelley Blue Book, this includes 20,775 units of the Dodge Hornet and the Alfa Romeo Tonale plug-in hybrid models. Specifically, these models were built between July 20, 2023, and July 18, 2024.
So, what caused this car recall of Dodge and Alfa Romeo vehicles? Apparently, these SUVs “may have been built with a brake pedal assembly that may collapse while braking.” In other words, the issue here isn’t with the brakes themselves but with the pedal. Luckily, the Automatic Emergency Braking system, if active at the time, could cause the vehicle to stop, preventing car accidents. However, this issue is still concerning for people who own less-than-popular vehicles.
So far, Stellantis says there has only been one accident reported involving this car recall. Naturally, auto mechanics at Stellantis dealers will fix the issue without cost to the owner. The automaker will send notifications to the impacted vehicle owners. At this time, there is no stop-driving warning.
