Recently, one well-known car expert took to social media to share five ways to know your engine may need some attention.

However, Andy’s Auto Advice on TikTok recently shared that it’s also a sign you may need engine work before it’s too late. This is especially the case if you experience sputtering while trying to start the car. 

Loss of power can be a sign

He then says that noticing a power reduction is also a sign that your car has engine problems. Drivers will realize that it seems harder to drive the vehicle and that it is not performing as usual. This can also be described as the car hesitating. Notably, this is the case regardless of the speed you’re going.

A Rough idle is also one of the car problems that can signal that your engine is having

Many auto mechanics will agree that a rough idle upon starting signals that your car has engine problems. He says it could be related to the intake or a sensor, but you should have it checked out. 

White smoke

Many car problems manifest themselves with large amounts of white smoke. However, Andy says this is a sign that you may need to have your engine checked out. This is the case regardless of weather conditions. Notably, this could mean that your beloved car is burning coolant, which signals an issue with the head gasket.

Reduction in fuel economy

Problems with the engine in your car can also lead to reduced fuel economy. Of course, this would be a fairly produced difference in gas mileage, not just a slight change. Of course, many other auto mechanics say the same thing.
