Car Collector Gifts His Daughter a $5Million 1,600-HP Bugatti W16 Mistral

Could this exclusive Bugatti W16 Mistral ‘Caroline’ edition, out of the 99 units ever made, go down as one of the best gifts by a father – a car collector, to his daughter in the last decade? Not only does it hold a high emotional value, but the details on the hypercar make it no less than an artistic masterpiece.

The design philosophy behind Caroline merges a soft, artistic, feminine personality and muscular mechanical supremacy into a creation on four wheels which has never been done before, and nothing like this will ever be made again.

Sur Mesure, Bugatti’s bespoke personalization program, “sought to complement the design philosophy of the W16 Mistral with an entirely unique identity – one defined by delicacy and grace,” for a loyal customer, according to a Bugatti press release.

“That vision was rooted in the gentle beauty of flowers, intertwined with the world of Haute Couture and a heartfelt tribute in the car’s name – chosen in honor of his daughter.”

One can notice “inspiration from the lavender fields of Provence” across the hypercar, from the “sophisticated elegance of the fabrics and colors employed in Haute Couture,” to the hand-painted lavender and blue blossoms floral motif underneath the retractable rear wing that carries the Caroline identity.

Caroline’s interior has highlights of ‘Violet Carbon’ in a sea of rich violet tones. The floral theme is evident in the cockpit with a hand-stitched floral motif on each headrest. The door panels show drifting petals in the wind, capturing a sense of movement through details that convey “energy and life.”

What is most noticeable at the center of the cockpit is Bugatti’s iconic ‘Dancing Elephant’ gear selector that is “encased in glass tinted to exist in harmony with the surrounding violet palette; forming a quiet yet powerful link to the marque’s artistic heritage.”

If Caroline weren’t a hypercar, it would definitely belong in an art museum. What classifies this as a product of Bugatti is the 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine that delivers 1,600 PS and 1,600 Nm of torque, capable of hitting speeds of up to 453.91 km/h (282 mph).

Speaking about Caroline and the process of materializing a customer’s dream, Hendrik Malinowski, the managing director of Bugatti, said:

“Creating a Sur Mesure vehicle is always an extraordinary journey; one that’s defined by trust, collaboration and a shared pursuit of perfection. With the W16 Mistral ‘Caroline’, we have had the privilege of bringing an exceptionally elegant vision to life, working closely with the customer to shape every detail with precision and care. The car is of remarkable beauty and individuality – one that reflects Bugatti’s heritage of savoir-faire and innovation, and the unique story and graceful taste of its owner. It is this fusion of legacy and personal expression that defines Sur Mesure at its very highest level – and in every respect, a privilege for each and every member of the Bugatti team bestowed with the honor of transforming a customer’s dream into reality.”
