Wow, the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Fe might already be behind in the compact pickup truck game. The Canoo electric pickup truck is an electrifying gamechanger. While the Canoo pickup truck looks pretty cute, it actually packs tons of power and convenient features.

The Canoo pickup truck is coming

According to Green Car Reports, Canoo has revealed their electric pickup truck even though they haven’t named it yet. It has an adorable design and will be emissions-free like the Tesla Cybertruck or Rivian R1T, only smaller.

The electric Canoo pickup truck is about 184-inches long with a 112.2-inch wheelbase. It’s about the length of older compact trucks from back in day. The new Ford Maverick may be similar in size.

However, the Canoo doesn’t have an engine bay to take up space. It doesn’t require a long hood like rivals do and has more room in the cab and a longer truck bed as a result. Meanwhile, the 2022 Ford Maverick is speculated to have a stubby bed.

What can the Canoo EV do?

The Canoo pickup truck has a bed that’s 72-inches long, and a 30-inch extension allows it to be as long as a full-size truck bed. According to Top Speed, the length of the bed in the Ford Maverick could be about 37 to 48 inches long.

You should be able to fit a 4×8 sheet of plywood in the back. Plus, the Canoo is expected to have a payload of up to 1,800 lb. The Ford Maverick isn’t expected to carry that much weight because it’s smaller than the Ranger that can hold a payload of up to 1,860 lb.

The electric truck will have a single and dual motor configuration. The dual-motor variant will come with standard all-wheel-drive and provide up to 600 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. Also, the battery will provide an estimated 200 miles of range.

The 2022 Ford Maverick will ride on a unibody frame and is expected to offer an entry-level model without AWD too. But its powertrain options haven’t been confirmed. It could have the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s found in the Ford Transit Connect and provides 162-hp. Also, a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that pumps out 180-hp could be available.

Canoo EV features

The electric Canoo pickup truck is pretty nifty. It has a cargo divider that can secure items to the side of the bed have flip-down tables that serve as workbenches. A built-in step helps you load items too. Below the step is a cargo area that’s large enough to fit a small cooler, laptop, and more.

If you need more cargo capacity, then spring for the optional roof rack. Plus, a camper shell with a roof-mounted tent will be available. The third brake light doubles as an overhead light and There are several outlets all around to charge your devices.

The compact Canoo truck sits on 18-inch wheels. Also, steer-by-wire and break-by-wire will be included, along with a tow hitch receiver. Charging external devices all day should only drain about 10-percent of the battery.

But unfortunately, quite a bit of waiting is involved with this truck. The first deliveries aren’t expected to be made until 2023. Preorders will begin during the second quarter of this year, and no pricing information has been released.
