Nearly everything about the 2023 Acura TLX is attractive, exciting, and fun. This luxury sports sedan brings plenty of power to make hitting open roads more enjoyable, it has an incredible style that turns onlookers green, but it has one serious drawback. The TLX has infotainment controls that most consumers turn their noses up. Let’s explore.

Why doesn’t the 2023 Acura TLX have a touchscreen?

This question will haunt you when considering which luxury sports sedan to drive. Every version of the TLX has a dash-mounted 10.2-inch infotainment display. So far, that sounds pretty good. Unfortunately, this infotainment system is controlled through a touchpad on the center console.

This luxury sports sedan brings Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot to the diving experience. Every trim above the base model has a navigation system, and the A-Spec trim receives wireless phone charging and an impressive 17-speaker premium sound system. The lack of a traditional touchscreen could be a deal breaker for some drivers.

Most Acura TLX models use a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine attached to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain brings 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque to the drive. This car comes with standard FWD, but AWD is available as a $2,200 option. The A-Spec version can hit 60 mph in 6.1 seconds. That’s not lightning-quick, but it’s fast enough to be fun.

The Type S version of the 2023 Acura TLX uses a 3.0-liter V6 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission while offering standard AWD. This powertrain delivers 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. This added power drops the sprint time to 5.1 seconds, which is much faster than the base model.

At first glance, it’s easy to say the TLX isn’t a performance sedan on the same level as the BMW 3 Series. This car brings appeal that goes beyond the numbers, according to MotorTrend. You’ll find alluring curves and creases where they belong, plenty of premium appeal, and an interior with tons of luxury elements (as long as you ignore the infotainment system).

When you take the car as a whole, the latest version of the TLX can be a lot of fun to drive. This car is exciting and quick, but it certainly is not rated at the top of the class. MotorTrend covers the chinks in the armor that could be better, including the transmission, tight rear seat, and lack of efficiency.

These issues, along with the ridiculous infotainment system, might be enough to send some consumers to the Genesis G70. Still, the 2023 Acura TLX is gorgeous and fun to drive, which might be enough for some to overlook the wonky infotainment system and enjoy driving this luxury sport sedan.
