If you’re interested in a mid-size truck, it makes sense that the Nissan Frontier is on your radar. In 2023, Nissan finally gave a serious update to its pickup. And now, the Frontier is a legitimately worthy truck. It now comes with a standard V6 engine and a revised interior. If you haven’t purchased a 2022 Nissan Frontier yet, you might be interested in the 2023 model. So, when can you buy it?

When does the 2023 Frontier go on sale?

While the exact release date has not been announced, according to Edmunds, the 2023 Nissan Frontier should go on sale later this year. Once it does hit the market, it will likely continue to see similar success to the 2022 model. And that is because Nissan finally brought this mid-size truck into its third generation.

For nearly 20 years, the Nissan Frontier went largely unchanged. And during that time, other mid-size trucks like the Tacoma and Chevy Colorado continued to see changes. Because of that, the Frontier felt distinctly old-school. And not necessarily in a good way.

What generation is the Nissan Frontier in?

In 2022, the Nissan Frontier finally got updated to the third generation. For what seemed like forever, this mid-size truck was in its second gen. The third generation of the Frontier marks a number of upgrades for this truck.

Each 2022 Frontier now comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine that makes 310 horsepower and 281 pound-foot of torque. Additionally, this pickup can tow up to 6,720 lbs. And that should be ample enough for most towing needs.

Additionally, the interior and exterior have been redesigned. The outside of the Frontier looks more aggressive, and the interior is a more comfortable place to be. It is worth noting that the frame of this truck does date back to the early 2000s.

How expensive is the 2023 Frontier?

The 2022 Frontier has a starting MSRP of $28,690. It is likely that the 2023 Frontier will have a similar pricing structure. The top trim Nissan Frontier PRO-4X starts at $38,120. But that is before options, if you add various packages, this truck can climb over $40,000.

Overall, the Frontier does continue to make a good value proposition. Especially with things like a standard V6 engine and available four-wheel drive. Potentially the best version of the Frontier is the SV trim. This model offers more than the base S, but it is still relatively affordable.

Should you wait for the new Nissan Frontier?

If you have been holding out for a new mid-size truck, it might be worth waiting for the 2023 Frontier. While there probably will not be any major changes, there could be some small updates.

At some point this fall, the 2023 Frontier should go on sale. But, it is entirely possible that there could be delays. Supply chain issues are still impacting the automotive industry. Making it difficult for manufacturers to get product to dealerships. But hopefully, that does not happen to the new Frontier.
