When creating your dream high-performance sedan or coupe, you may have very specific colors in mind for the interior and exterior. If the 2021 BMW M3 or the 2021 BMW M4 is the car for you, then you’re in luck. The BMW website will let you do just that and pick out your own wild color combos for both the exterior and the interior.

Build your own BMW M3 or M4

The build-your-own tool is now live on BMW’s website, according to Car and Driver, and anyone can pick out either a dream car or some crazy combos. The new tool lets buyers configure the internal and external options of either the 2021 BMW M3 or the 2021 BMW M4. The most entertaining part of designing the M3 and M4 is the color choices that are available. The aspects of the cars that can be selected are the exterior color, wheels, upholstery colors, trim, plus packages and options.

The many color combinations available

The build-your-own tool includes some wild color options for the interior and exterior of the cars. Car and Driver proclaims the Sao Paulo Yellow and the Isle of Man Green Metallic ($550 extra) to be the “most eye-catching of the exterior color options.”

There are plenty of other options too. The M3’s two non-metallic colors are Alpine White ($0) and Sao Paulo Yellow ($0). Its 10 metallic colors are Black Sapphire Metallic ($550), Portimao Blue Metallic ($550), Toronto Red Metallic ($550), and Isle of Green Metallic ($550), Brooklyn Grey Metallic ($550), Dravit Grey Metallic ($1,950), Tanzanite Blue II Metallic ($1,950), Oxide Grey Metallic ($1,950), Frozen Brilliant White Metallic ($3,600), and Frozen Portimao Blue Metallic ($3,600). The M4’s exterior colors are the same except that Oxide Grey Metallic is not available.

For the interiors of both cars, buyers can stick with either two subdued options or two wild and crazy options. There are four interior upholstery options in extended Merino leather: Yas Marina Blue and Black with Yellow accents, Silvertone and Black, Kyalami Orange and Black, and all Black. The same four color options are available in full Merino leather for an additional $2,550.

There don’t seem to be restrictions about what interior and exterior colors can be put together, so buyers should give some thought to what they’ll truly love. As user “ddijhlddbxd” mentioned in the comments on Car and Driver, a car in crazy colors might not hold the same appeal day after day. He or she said, “As for [a] bright colored yellow car, it is interesting but like a Hawaiian shirt I don’t want to wear it everyday.”

The 2021 BMW M3 and M4

These two cars both provide high performance. The M3 is the performance version of the 3 Series sports sedan. The M4 is the performance version of the 4 Series Coupe. Both cars are all new for 2021, according to Car and Driver. The new kidney-shaped grilles have an elongated double-nostril design for 2021, which not everyone loves.

Both the M3 and M4 have a base trim as well as a Competition trim. The base versions both have a 473-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission. The Competition versions have a 503-hp engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission as well as performance-enhancing features. That version also has all-wheel drive instead of the standard rear-wheel drive.

The starting price for the 2021 BMW M3 is $70,895, and the starting price for the 2021 BMW M4 is a bit higher at $72,795. The Competition versions add about $2,900 over the base version prices.

The new 2021 BMW M3 and 2021 BMW M4 both offer plenty of performance for drivers. For any drivers that also want to look flashy as well, there are some fun colors to choose from for inside and out. With the build-your-own feature on the website, buyers can customize one to suit their needs and personalities. Buyers who are more subdued still have several white, grey, and black options for both the interior and the exterior.
