According to Cars.com, the best pickup truck for families in 2025 is the Ram 1500. It ranks highly for providing multiple powertrain options and trim levels, allowing families to find a model that best suits their needs. 

While high-end versions of the Ram truck were already the most luxurious full-size trucks you can buy, the 1500 Tungsten ups the ante. It has a mix of rich material and detailing hardly provided in the class. 

Plus, it’s the top family truck because of its spacious crew cab and clever storage solutions. Also, the available air suspension lowers the truck, making it easier for kids to climb in and out of. 

In my humble opinion, being super expensive and luxurious doesn’t mean something is the best for families. Some families need more cost-saving options. The 2025 Ram truck starts at $40,275 while the Ford F-150 starts at $37,350. 

Also, there are six engines available with the F-150, including a fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain. The Ram 1500 has two engines available, but one has two output levels. 

As of October 8, 2024, the Ford F-150 has sold 528,028 trucks so far this year. The Ram truck is a bit behind with only 268,666 models. 

Even though most people buy trucks to have the ability to tow and haul certain amounts, it’s safe to assume that the F-150 attracts more families. It attracts more buyers overall, even if most people don’t actually use their rigs for truck stuff. 

While Ram does have an advantage with passenger and cargo space, the expensive air suspension can be replaced by more affordable running boards. It’s also more expensive with limited options compared to better-selling rivals.
